Marvel’s Wolverine has cleared one of its final major pre-launch milestones.

Insomniac Games announced on August 21 that the PS5 exclusive has gone gold, meaning the release build is finished and ready to move into manufacturing and distribution ahead of launch. The studio marked the moment with a short clip of Logan popping gold-colored claws.

The announcement puts the game firmly on track for September 15, 2026. PlayStation’s official game page still lists that date, while the U.S. PlayStation Store has the Standard Edition at $69.99.

Going gold does not make a delay literally impossible, and post-gold patches are common, but it is one of the clearest signs that a game is ready for release.

Insomniac also used the celebration to show off Gold Claws that players will be able to unlock and equip in-game. Gematsu reported the same detail alongside the studio’s announcement.

The game was first revealed at Sony’s September 2021 PlayStation Showcase, so the gold milestone arrives nearly five years after its public debut.

PlayStation describes Marvel’s Wolverine as a narrative-driven, single-player action-adventure rather than an open-world game. Logan returns to Team X three years after leaving the mutant task force, with Bolivar Trask targeting mutants as the conflict escalates. Recent official previews have also highlighted Mystique, Sabretooth and Jean Grey as part of the story.

Liam McIntyre voices Logan in Insomniac’s original take on the character. The game has been built specifically for PS5 and is not coming to PS4.

With less than a month to go, the biggest question is no longer whether the game will be finished in time. It’s whether Insomniac’s darker, more violent spin on Wolverine can live up to the expectations that have built since 2021.
