What these technologies are

Reader-rating cookie

When you submit a score on an enabled review, Red Reactions sets __Host-rr_rating_id, a functional cookie containing a random browser identifier. It is Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, limited to this site and expires after up to one year. The cookie prevents a repeat rating from the same browser from increasing the count and lets that browser update its score. It is not used for advertising, analytics, cross-site tracking or browser fingerprinting.

The raw cookie value is not stored in the ratings database. The server stores a non-reversible keyed hash alongside the rating target, score and timestamps. Deleting the cookie removes the browser's local identifier, but does not by itself identify or delete an already stored anonymous rating.

Advertising technologies

Red Reactions uses Google AdSense. Google and advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, measurement, fraud prevention and, where permitted, personalized advertising. Depending on your choices and location, advertising may instead be non-personalized.

Analytics technologies

Google Analytics technologies may be used to measure visits and interactions. Analytics storage is subject to consent where required. You can change your consent through the site’s existing Google consent-management interface.

Consent management

Google’s consent-management platform presents choices to visitors where required. You can consent, refuse consent, or manage your selections through the site’s Google consent-management interface. You can return to that interface to change or revoke choices where it is available.

YouTube embeds

Articles may include YouTube videos using youtube-nocookie.com privacy-enhanced embeds. When an embed is loaded or you interact with it, YouTube or Google may use its own technologies and process information under its policies.

Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you review, block or delete cookies through browser settings. Blocking some technologies can affect how websites or embedded content work. Browser settings do not necessarily remove information already held by third-party providers.
