Charlie Brooker's Blackmere Gets a Title, First Look and 2027 Window

Charlie Brooker’s previously untitled Netflix detective series now has a name: Charlie Brooker’s Blackmere. Netflix has released first-look images, identified four cast members and set a premiere window of early 2027. It has not announced an exact date or released a trailer.

What is Blackmere about?

Netflix describes the show as an absurd comedy wearing the clothes of a serious crime thriller. Detective John Blackmere leaves the fictional northern city of Bleakford for London after his partner’s death. He is pursuing a ritualistic serial killer, but the official description makes clear that the grim detective setup is also part of the joke. Netflix has not detailed the case or its resolution beyond that premise.

The first images show a dark police setting, including the crime-scene still above. Their dramatic look fits the thriller disguise; it does not turn Netflix’s stated comedy premise into a straight procedural.

Who is in the cast?

Netflix names Paddy Considine, Georgina Campbell, Lena Headey and Rory Kinnear. Its current Tudum announcement does not identify every actor’s character, so the names alone should not be read as a complete role list. Brooker created the series and writes alongside Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier and Joel Morris, with additional material by Victoria Asare Archer.

Is Blackmere connected to Black Mirror?

Brooker created both shows, but Netflix presents Blackmere as a separate series, with its own detective premise and cast.
