Akane-banashi Season 2 Reveals Zenza Arc Teaser and Two New Cast Members
Watch the official Akane-banashi Season 2 teaser. Taku Yashiro and Yoji Ueda join the cast as the rakugo drama prepares for its January 2027 Japanese return.

Akane-banashi Season 2 has a new teaser, new key visual and two additional Japanese voice actors. The October 25 reveal introduces Taku Yashiro as Asagao Konjakutei and Yoji Ueda as Hassho Tsubakiya, ahead of the anime’s January 2027 Japanese broadcast window.
That month is not a new renewal announcement: the production confirmed Season 2 and January timing on June 20. Today’s material shows the next stage of Akane’s training without providing an exact premiere day.

The upload below comes from TV Asahi’s animation channel and is also linked by the anime’s official movie section. Its description confirms the January window on TV Asahi’s national IMAnimation network slot, BS Asahi and other Japanese channels.
What is the Zenza Arc?
The official Season 2 introduction moves Akane beyond high school and into formal apprenticeship under Shiguma Arakawa. Performing as Akane Arakawa, she begins training at Yasaka-tei, a traditional venue where rakugo is performed regularly.
For newcomers to the terminology, zenza is the apprentice rank in rakugo, the Japanese storytelling performance tradition. Akane’s ambition remains the higher rank of shin’uchi. The new phase therefore changes her daily setting and professional responsibilities; it does not mean she has already reached her goal.
The newly released key visual accompanies that move into the professional world.
New voices and returning staff
Crunchyroll’s October 25 report, corroborated by MANTANWEB, identifies the two additions:
| Character | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|
| Asagao Konjakutei | Taku Yashiro |
| Hassho Tsubakiya | Yoji Ueda |
Anna Nagase returns as Akane. The official production credits list Ayumu Watanabe as director, Michihiro Tsuchiya on series composition and Kii Tanaka on character design, with animation by ZEXCS. The original manga is written by Yuki Suenaga and illustrated by Takamasa Moue.
Where will Season 2 stream internationally?
The checked announcements establish a Japanese January 2027 broadcast, not a worldwide streaming schedule. They do not confirm an exact day, an international platform, a simulcast hour or a dub rollout. A service carrying Season 1 in a particular country should not be assumed to have Season 2 there.
