Narnia’s new publishing program includes fresh editions of C. S. Lewis’s original novels, seven-book sets, deluxe packages and a separate graphic-novel adaptation by Ben Hatke. They are not interchangeable: the binding, contents, ISBN and publication date depend on the edition and market.

The October 16 cover reveal introduces movie-inspired artwork ahead of Greta Gerwig’s The Magician’s Nephew. The useful choice for readers is between a single original novel, the whole seven-book series and an adaptation told through comics—not simply between several covers of one identical product.

The US editions and their listed dates

Publisher and retailer product records identify the editions below. The dates are the corresponding US retailer listings, checked against those identities; they are not promises of worldwide stock or delivery.

Seven-book movie tie-in hardcover boxAll seven chronicles in hardcoverNovember 24, 20269780063599482

The single-volume and paperback-box dates are listed by Books-A-Million and its box-set page. The deluxe edition’s November 17 record and Target’s November 24 hardcover-box listing concern separate products.

Individual hardcovers are also part of the new-cover program. Prairie Lights lists the standalone Magician’s Nephew hardcover for November 17; it is distinct from both the deluxe edition and the seven-book hardcover box.

For comparison, UK-format box ISBN 9780008823702 is listed for November 19, 2026 by iMusic. It should not be substituted for the US paperback set’s ISBN or date merely because both packages contain seven books.

What do the new covers and deluxe treatment change?

NarniaWeb’s October 16 reveal credits the new movie-inspired cover art to Vance Kovacs across the seven chronicles. The publisher-supplied paperback cover shown above places Aslan’s face beneath the Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew title. A new cover does not, by itself, make the novel a retelling of the film’s screenplay.

HarperCollins describes the regular deluxe collector’s edition as having foil treatments, full-color endpapers, digitally printed edges and a ribbon marker. Those are publisher-listed package features, rather than a hands-on assessment of paper quality, binding or print finish.

Retailer-exclusive deluxe designs and a separate slipcase edition were also shown in the reveal. Do not assume that every item called “deluxe” has the same jacket or is the standard ISBN in the table. Check the exact listing for the cover and contents you intend to order; an exclusive US offer does not establish international shipping or local availability.

Ben Hatke’s graphic novel is a different kind of adaptation

The HarperCollins UK catalogue identifies Hatke as the adapter and illustrator of a full-color graphic novel based on Lewis’s book. Its listed paperback is 288 pages, with ISBN 9780008823733 and a January 28, 2027 publication date.

October 16 publishing-program reporting gives January 12, 2027 for the graphic novel in the US rollout. That is a reported date, separate from the directly checked UK catalogue entry. The US edition’s exact ISBN and binding are not established by the publisher records checked for this guide, so the UK identifier should not be attached to a January 12 listing by assumption.

The distinction is substantial: the new prose editions repackage the original chronicles, while Hatke’s book retells The Magician’s Nephew through comics. Neither description establishes that the graphic novel adapts Gerwig’s film script.

Which format answers your reading plans?

For the novel behind the upcoming film, a single-volume Magician’s Nephew edition is sufficient. A seven-book box adds the rest of Lewis’s chronicles; a deluxe single volume adds its specified physical treatment rather than six further stories. The graphic novel offers a comics adaptation instead of the prose novel.

The Magician’s Nephew comes first in Narnia’s internal chronology, although it was the sixth novel published, in 1955. That is why it can appear as book one in a numbered set without being the series’ original publication starting point.

Our film trailer and regional release guide covers the screen adaptation separately. For books, match title, format, ISBN and territory before comparing listings. These are announced publication schedules, not a check of future inventory, prices or delivery to every country.
