Netflix's Pride & Prejudice Sets December 3 Premiere — New First Look at Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy and the Cast

Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice finally has an exact date. The streamer confirmed the six-part limited series will premiere December 3, 2026, replacing the broad “fall 2026” window that had stood since the show was first announced — and released a new batch of first-look images showing the full Bennet family and supporting cast in costume for the first time.

What’s Newly Confirmed

Netflix’s own Tudum article states plainly that Dolly Alderton and director Euros Lyn’s series “will premiere Dec. 3.” That’s a meaningful upgrade from the vague seasonal window Netflix had given previously, and it’s the reason this counts as real news rather than a recap of what’s already been reported.

The new images go beyond the February teaser’s brief glimpses of Elizabeth and Darcy. They show the full ensemble in period dress for the first time, including a group shot of the Bennet family — Mrs. Bennet and her five daughters — walking together through a field, giving the clearest visual sense yet of how the show is styling Austen’s central family as a unit.

Who’s Playing Whom

Netflix’s confirmed cast: Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy, Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, and Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet. The wider Longbourn cast includes Freya Mavor, Jamie Demetriou, Daryl McCormack, Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly, and Louis Partridge, though Netflix’s material doesn’t spell out every character assignment for that group in the same explicit terms it uses for the four leads.

The Creative Team

Dolly Alderton — the bestselling author of Everything I Know About Love — writes the series, and Euros Lyn, who directed Heartstopper, is at the helm. Netflix’s own framing leans into the idea of a new generation encountering Austen’s story: Alderton has said she wants to “reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favorite book — and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr. Darcy.” That’s Alderton’s own description of her approach, not an independently verified claim about how closely the series follows the novel.

Corrin has called playing Elizabeth Bennet “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” saying: “To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor.”

What Netflix Still Hasn’t Said

The episode count is confirmed at six, but Netflix has not said whether those six episodes will drop all at once or roll out weekly — don’t assume either pattern until Netflix specifies it. There’s also no confirmed episode-by-episode breakdown of who plays which specific supporting role at Longbourn beyond the two Bennet parents and Elizabeth.

A New Take on a Familiar Story

This is a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel, not a continuation or reinterpretation with a twist — Netflix’s own materials describe it as bringing Austen’s characters to a new audience rather than reworking the source material’s plot. Beyond that framing, nothing in the newly released images or Netflix’s statements suggests specific scene changes, so there’s no basis yet for claiming the adaptation restores or alters particular moments from the novel.
