R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2 Trailer Brings Elvira Into Redhaven's New Curse

Tubi’s official R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 trailer brings Sam and Becka back to Redhaven, where a new version of the curse threatens the entire town. Cassandra Peterson joins the sequel as Cassandra, a witch who may know how to stop it. The film premieres free on Tubi on October 9, 2026.

The sequel expands the curse beyond one Pumpkinhead

Tubi’s official synopsis is deliberately compact: a new Pumpkinhead curse awakens, and Sam and Becka must stop it before Redhaven is claimed. The trailer makes the escalation visible by showing multiple pumpkin-headed creatures moving through the town rather than simply repeating the first film’s threat.

Sam is still dealing with the consequences of the original story, including the fracture between what he remembers and what his family does. Becka returns as his ally when the new activity begins. The trailer also connects the threat to an old book and to Redhaven’s history, but its edited images do not establish every rule of the new curse or reveal how it is broken.

Bean Reid returns as Sam and Adeline Lo as Becka. The confirmed cast also includes Matty Finochio, Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez, Bob Frazer, Seth Isaac Johnson and Kendra Anderson.

Who is Cassandra Peterson playing?

Peterson is not simply appearing as Elvira inside the story. Tubi identifies her character as Cassandra, a mysterious witch with knowledge of ancient magic and a possible route to ending the curse. The casting trades on Peterson’s long association with the Elvira persona, but Cassandra is a character in Redhaven’s story.

The distinction matters because the trailer’s marketing prominently uses Peterson’s horror-host identity. Tubi’s own press release, however, describes Cassandra as someone who understands the forces threatening the town and the sacrifice that stopping them may require. It does not say that Elvira herself crosses into the film’s continuity.

This is a Tubi sequel, not the 1988 Pumpkinhead franchise

Despite the shared word in the title, R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 is the continuation of Tubi’s 2025 young-adult horror film. It is not a sequel to Stan Winston’s 1988 creature feature Pumpkinhead.

Tubi says its series is inspired by R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour. The first film introduced Redhaven, Sam and the harvest curse; this sequel continues those characters and that mythology. Viewers looking for direct continuity should therefore start with the 2025 Tubi film, not the unrelated 1988 movie.

Jem Garrard returns as writer and director, and Front Street Pictures produces. Tubi’s current materials give October 9 as the exclusive streaming premiere during its “Terror on Tubi” programming. No theatrical release is part of the announcement.

The trailer confirms the larger scale, the returning young leads and Cassandra’s role in the search for a solution. It leaves the curse’s exact origin, its full rules and the cost of stopping it for the film itself.
