Crunchyroll has acquired North American and international theatrical rights to The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure, excluding Asia but including India. Its October 8 announcement names Sony Pictures Entertainment as distribution partner. International dates and ticket information will follow; December 11, 2026 is Japan’s opening date, not a worldwide premiere.

Does worldwide distribution mean Sweden has a date?

A rights acquisition is not a local cinema booking. It makes an international theatrical release possible through the named distributors. It does not identify which Swedish cinemas will screen the film, which day tickets go on sale or what language options a local screening will offer.

No Swedish booking or exact international date is verified for this article. The territory announcement also should not be expanded into a promise of release in every country, city or cinema chain. Local distributor and exhibitor notices will supply that practical information.

Is December 11 the worldwide release?

No. TOHO’s official film lineup lists the Japanese feature 劇場版 薬屋のひとりごと 亡妃の秘宝 for Friday, December 11, 2026. Crunchyroll says international dates will be announced later. These are separate pieces of the release schedule.

The distributor uses The Late Lady’s Treasure as the English title. Earlier Red Reactions coverage used The Deceased Empress’ Treasure for the same Japanese film; this announcement does not introduce a second movie.

What is the film about?

Crunchyroll’s synopsis sends Maomao and Jinshi south to investigate a deceased concubine’s remarkably preserved remains and a mystery involving hidden treasure in a city on the water. That is the announced setup, without the mystery’s solution.

The feature is based on a concept from novelist Natsu Hyuuga, also credited as Hyuganatsu. Norihiro Naganuma directs at TOHO Animation STUDIO. A movie made for this franchise should not be described as a recap or a confirmed adaptation of a particular novel arc without supporting production information.

Do you need to finish Season 3 first?

The film is a separate theatrical story, not Season 3’s second cour. The TV season premiered October 2, with its second cour planned for April 2027. Our Season 3 release guide covers that schedule.

Those dates alone do not establish a mandatory viewing order or guarantee that the film is spoiler-free for a newcomer. Our novel, manga and adaptation guide explains the formats; this article will need official viewing context before giving a more specific prerequisite.

Tickets, streaming and trailer status

Watch for Crunchyroll, Sony and local cinema announcements before buying tickets. No verified Swedish ticket link is available to recommend, and a theatrical deal does not itself set a Crunchyroll streaming date, VOD launch or home-video edition.

No new film trailer is embedded here. Season 3’s promotional videos concern the TV season and should not be presented as footage announcing this cinema deal. Browse Anime or the release calendar for separately sourced schedules.
