The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure has a new main trailer featuring Kenshi Yonezu’s newly written film theme, 春が灯り. TOHO animation released the footage on October 22, 2026, alongside a new promotional campaign and film key visual. The movie opens in Japan on December 11; that is not a confirmed worldwide cinema date.

This is the film’s October preview, rather than the July trailer attached to the earlier international theatrical-distribution announcement. It also concerns a different song and production from the currently airing television season.

Watch the official October 22 trailer

The footage moves between court ceremony and Maomao’s investigation. An escorted procession of covered carriages appears early on; another scene introduces Muqing holding a bouquet of white flowers. Later, Maomao appears before rows of medicine drawers. The promotional footage establishes these images without identifying a culprit or explaining how every incident connects.

The official synopsis reproduced by REISSUE RECORDS supplies the larger setup: Jinshi is ordered to fulfil a deceased consort’s wish to return home. Her unusually preserved body draws Maomao into a journey south, to a water city troubled by pirates and rumours of hidden treasure. That is the advertised mystery premise, rather than a conclusion revealed by the trailer.

Kenshi Yonezu’s new film theme

Yonezu’s October 22 announcement confirms 春が灯り (Haru ga Tomori) as a song written for the movie. The Japanese title is the clearest identifier; the announcement does not establish a separate worldwide streaming-release date for the track.

In his accompanying comment, Yonezu says he studied the screenplay and drew inspiration from Japanese children’s songs, specifically Tulip and Antagata Dokosa. Those are his stated creative references. They do not establish a hidden plot answer or justify treating a lyric as a story revelation.

The film theme is separate from the television anime’s music. Our Season 3 guide covers that production and its own opening and ending themes.

What the new key visual shows

The October poster places Maomao holding a child in the foreground, with Jinshi behind her, surrounded by the film’s wider ensemble. Its title, production credits and December 11 date remain visible in the full composition above. It is a different visual from the earlier cave-and-blue-torch film artwork used in our distribution report.

The accompanying production credits name Norihiro Naganuma as director and TOHO animation STUDIO as the animation studio, with Hyuganatsu credited for the original work and story concept. This is an original theatrical story, distinct from the Season 3 television schedule.

Japan’s opening and international dates

December 11, 2026 is the Japanese theatrical date. Crunchyroll’s October 8 deal names Sony Pictures Entertainment as distribution partner, covering North America and other territories outside Asia, with India included.

That rights agreement does not supply a single worldwide opening, local showtimes, ticket availability or a streaming date. Our film distribution guide separates the announced territories from the country-by-country dates still to come. The October trailer and new theme announcement do not turn those outstanding details into confirmed releases.
