Dual Shadow: Precure Villain Heroines Sets a 2027 TV Window
Toei's new Precure spinoff has a 2027 Japanese TV window, original characters and a cryptic teaser. Cast, story details and international streaming remain unannounced.

Dual Shadow ~Precure Villain Heroines~ is a newly announced Precure television anime spinoff scheduled for 2027 in Japan. Toei Animation’s official project site and the first teaser confirm the year, while the accompanying announcement describes original characters and an original story. An exact premiere date and international streaming plans have not been announced in the checked material.
The project was introduced on October 27, Japan time. The official video was uploaded at 21:55 UTC on October 26, which was already the morning of October 27 in Japan; those dates refer to the same announcement period.
What the first teaser actually shows
The short video starts with a brightly lit field of flowers before changing to a dark title reveal. A lone flowering plant then appears under a purple spotlight, with large eyes emerging behind it. The official video’s English on-screen line reads “What? We’re not Precure.”
The official project artwork uses the same flower-and-eyes imagery. Neither the teaser nor the landing page identifies whose eyes they are. The ominous presentation establishes a mood, not a named villain, a transformation sequence or a confirmed character allegiance.
Original characters, with the story still under wraps
The announcement reproduced by Dengeki Online describes original characters and an original story, rather than another season following a previously established Precure cast. The word Villain is part of the actual title, but the checked announcement does not set out the plot or name its leads.
There is no confirmed basis yet for calling it an adult reboot, saying existing franchise villains will return, or naming a new Precure team. Voice cast, production staff, broadcaster, episode count and a month or day for the premiere are also absent from the checked launch material.
What 2027 means for viewers
For now, the supported schedule is a 2027 Japanese TV broadcast window. No overseas streaming service, simulcast timetable or territory-specific release date is established by the announcement. Coverage by an international anime news outlet does not itself confirm that outlet’s affiliated streaming service has licensed the show.
This is separate from the Star Detective Precure movie and its crossover trailers. Follow the official Dual Shadow site for the next cast, story and broadcast announcements.
