Gears of War: E-Day Release Time, Early Access, Game Pass and Co-Op

Gears of War: E-Day launches October 6, 2026 at 15:00 UTC. Xbox says pre-install begins September 29, while Premium Edition early access starts October 1 at the same clock time. What time does Gears of War: E-Day release?

The schedule is a synchronized unlock in Xbox’s current communication. Pre-install is listed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam. It lets eligible players download ahead of their access date; it is not itself an early-play entitlement. As with any online launch, check the store and official Xbox updates close to release for late schedule changes.

Who gets early access?

Xbox ties up to five days of early access to the Premium Edition or an eligible Premium upgrade. A standard preorder does not automatically include it. The official product FAQ lists October 1 for Premium and October 6 for the standard release. The game went gold on September 17, but that production milestone is not a promise that download or server conditions cannot change.

Is E-Day on Game Pass, and where can you play?

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include the game from October 6. Xbox lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam as launch platforms. Xbox Play Anywhere applies to supported Xbox and Microsoft Store PC purchases, with shared progression and achievements. The current product and launch pages do not establish a separate cloud launch entitlement, so check Xbox’s live cloud catalog before planning to stream it. PlayStation 5 and Switch are not on the announced launch list.

Does the campaign have split-screen and online co-op?

The campaign supports solo play, two-player split-screen on console, or up to four players online. The console qualifier matters: Xbox does not advertise split-screen on PC, and four-player online co-op is not four-player local split-screen. Online features can require the applicable platform subscription and network access.

What are Horde Siege and Versus?

Horde Siege is a 12-player PvE mode. Three squads defend the city of Kalona across larger maps, according to The Coalition’s E-Day Direct coverage. Players cooperate against Locust enemies; the 12-player count does not describe a battle royale or PvP match.

Versus returns as 4v4 PvP on new maps. Xbox’s current product listing also describes Ranked and Social playlists, but a full map count and rotation schedule are not part of the confirmed launch facts here. These modes have a different player structure from the campaign and Horde Siege.

What PC hardware does the game require?

The final PC specification chart from The Coalition lists an SSD with 115 GB available in every tier. Its minimum tier calls for 12 GB RAM and 6 GB VRAM; the recommended tier calls for 16 GB RAM and 8 GB VRAM. Check the chart for the matching CPU and GPU combinations rather than treating memory alone as a complete requirement.
