Ted Lasso Season 4 Ending Explained — Richmond's Ownership and Coaching Changes
A spoiler guide to Being Alive, the ownership dispute, Richmond's coaching changes and what Apple has announced about the show's future.

Richmond survives the ownership challenge, Roy leaves for Chelsea, and Alice takes charge of the women’s team. Ted stays, with a different job. Apple’s Being Alive listing identifies the October 7 episode as a 55-minute season finale.
This explanation cross-checks TVLine and Ready Steady Cut’s accounts of the final scenes.
How Mae’s will keeps Rebecca in control
TVLine details the shareholders’ meeting: Zelda’s attempt to take Richmond depends on Hugo acquiring the Milk Sisters’ shares. Rebecca and Higgins uncover the scheme, and Hugo sells those shares to Rebecca instead. That produces a 49–49 split, with Mae’s two percent deciding control.
Elaine Pinter, executing Mae’s will, returns that stake to Rebecca. Rebecca ends with 51 percent; Zelda retains 49 percent. Mae also leaves the Crown & Anchor to Baz, Jeremy and Paul. Her legacy protects the club and passes the pub to its regulars.
Roy accepts Chelsea — and faces fatherhood
TVLine reports Roy telling Rebecca he will accept Chelsea’s head-coaching offer, while finishing Richmond’s season first. His decision is a departure from his job, rather than a rejection of the people around him.
Keeley is pregnant with their child. The ending shows them leaving Richmond together; it does not establish marriage or their future living arrangements.
Alice becomes head coach; Ted stays
Ready Steady Cut corroborates the final coaching change: Alice leads the women’s team, with Ted and Beard as her assistants. Ted’s ending therefore differs from another simple farewell. He remains part of Richmond while making room for Alice’s leadership.
The same recap describes Rebecca proposing to Matthijs and his acceptance. That resolves their immediate relationship choice, without showing their future marriage.
What the ending leaves open
The coaching handover, Roy and Keeley’s approaching parenthood, and Rebecca’s engagement leave possible stories ahead. Those are interpretations of the endpoint, not announcements about another season.
No official Season 5 renewal was found in the Apple TV Press sources checked for this publication. Apple’s season-finale label does not itself promise renewal or confirm cancellation. Follow TV & Streaming and Lore for subsequent coverage.
