Ted: The Animated Series — December 17 Premiere, Cast and Teaser
Peacock's Ted animated sequel premieres December 17 with eight episodes. Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth return.

Peacock’s Ted: The Animated Series premieres December 17, 2026, with eight episodes arriving that day in the United States. Seth MacFarlane returns as Ted, Mark Wahlberg reprises John, and Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth also return. NBCUniversal calls it a sequel to both Ted movies, with further episodes planned for 2027.
When does Ted: The Animated Series premiere?
Peacock has set Thursday, December 17 for the first eight episodes. NBCUniversal says additional episodes will stream in 2027, but has not announced their dates or a final total for the series. It has not specified a release hour, and its announcement does not give a premiere date for markets outside the United States. The December date is for Peacock, not a theatrical release.
Is it a sequel to the Ted movies?
Yes. NBCUniversal places the animated series 12 years after Ted 2. Ted and John are now neighbors, each with a family and a dead-end job. The announced premise follows their bad ideas about marriage, parenting and adult life. That is the starting point; Peacock has not published episode-by-episode plots.
The animated show is not a remake of the first film. Although Peacock also has a live-action ted series, NBCUniversal explicitly describes this new one as a sequel to Ted and Ted 2.
Who is in the voice cast?
The official cast list identifies six series regulars:
| Performer | Character |
|---|---|
| Seth MacFarlane | Ted |
| Mark Wahlberg | John |
| Amanda Seyfried | Sam |
| Jessica Barth | Tami-Lynn |
| Kyle Mooney | Apollo |
| Liz Richman | Ruth |
MacFarlane, Wahlberg, Seyfried and Barth reprise their film roles. Mooney and Richman join the cast for the animated series. MacFarlane, Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh created the show; Corrigan and Walsh are co-showrunners. Rough Draft Studios provides the animation, and Universal Global Television, Fuzzy Door and MRC produce it.
What does the first-look teaser confirm?
Peacock released the official teaser on September 30 alongside the new artwork. It offers a first look at the animated version of the franchise. The premiere date, cast roles, 12-year jump and 2027 continuation above come from NBCUniversal’s written announcement; the teaser is not a full episode guide.
