The Gentlemen Renewed for Season 3 as Netflix Drops the Season 2 Trailer

Netflix has renewed The Gentlemen for Season 3 before Season 2 has even premiered.

The streamer confirmed the renewal on August 23 while also releasing the full trailer for the second season, which arrives on September 3, 2026. Guy Ritchie will return to direct, and Variety reports that Season 3 will run for eight episodes.

That is the firm news. Season 3 is still early enough that Netflix has not announced a release date, plot or new cast.

The more immediate story is Season 2, where Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass are no longer simply protecting the operation they inherited. They are trying to make it bigger.

Season 3 is official — but still early

Netflix’s own announcement confirms that The Gentlemen will return for a third season. Ritchie described the expansion of the series in a short statement, saying that “a third season felt inevitable” as the world and consequences have grown.

The order comes unusually early: Season 2 does not launch until September 3.

According to Variety, Season 3 is in pre-production, but scripts had not yet been finalized when the renewal was announced and no new casting had been locked. Production is expected to move ahead after that work is completed.

So there is no Season 3 release window yet, and there is not enough official information to start pretending we know what Eddie and Susie will be doing next.

Netflix’s Season 2 setup picks up one year after Eddie and Susie joined forces inside Bobby Glass’ criminal empire.

Eddie has gone from reluctant participant to somebody actively looking for more power. Susie is still beside him, but Bobby’s increasingly questionable decisions put pressure on the arrangement that held the first season together.

The biggest change is geographical.

Season 2 takes part of the business into Italy, where Eddie and Susie are trying to establish a foothold around the Italian lakes. That brings them into contact with crime boss Marco Moretti, played by Sergio Castellitto, and fixer Cico Maldini, played by Michele Morrone.

Netflix describes Moretti as powerful, ruthless and elegant, while Cico is the man helping Eddie and Susie navigate the Italian underworld — with the fairly important warning that he cannot necessarily be trusted.

The returning cast gets a lot bigger

Theo James and Kaya Scodelario are back as Eddie and Susie, with Ray Winstone returning as Bobby Glass.

Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones and Giancarlo Esposito also return, alongside Jasmine Blackborow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear and Pearce Quigley.

The new Season 2 lineup includes Hugh Bonneville, Sergio Castellitto, Michele Morrone, Benedetta Porcaroli, Benjamin Clementine, Amra Mallassi, Tyler Conti, Chris Eubank Jr. and Maya Jama.

Netflix has identified Bonneville as Lord Hawthorne, Castellitto as Marco Moretti, Morrone as Cico Maldini and Jama as Aisha.

Ritchie and Matthew Read wrote Season 2, with Ritchie and Eran Creevy directing.

Meghan Markle is still not confirmed for Season 3

The Season 3 renewal does not settle the separate reports linking Meghan Markle to the series.

Reports about a possible role have conflicted, and Netflix has not announced Markle as part of the Season 3 cast. That means the safest description remains exactly that: possible, not confirmed.

What has changed since then is the status of the show itself. Season 3 is no longer hypothetical. Netflix has now ordered it.

What we know now

The Gentlemen Season 2 premieres September 3 on Netflix with eight episodes.

Season 3 is officially happening and will also consist of eight episodes, but Netflix has not announced when it will film, when it will premiere or who else will join the cast.

For now, the trailer is focused on the more immediate problem: Eddie has discovered that he likes being good at crime.

Season 1 was about getting pulled into the business.

Season 2 looks like it is about what happens when he decides he wants the whole thing.
