The Mummy: Book of the Dead: Returning Cast and October 2027 Dates Explained
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz return in The Mummy: Book of the Dead. Check the official title, US and UK dates, cast and what remains unannounced.

The Mummy: Book of the Dead is the official title of the sequel bringing Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz back as Rick and Evie O’Connell. Its announced theatrical date is October 15, 2027 in the United States and United Kingdom; that is not a verified worldwide schedule.
The franchise’s official October 15, 2026 post revealed the title and repeated the release date. Variety’s October 16 report followed with cast and filmmaker details. This is an October title reveal, rather than a newly announced release date on the day of this article.
Title, release dates and filmmakers
| Detail | Confirmed or reported position |
|---|---|
| Studio title | The Mummy: Book of the Dead, as used by Universal’s official franchise account and UK listing. |
| United States | October 15, 2027, in the official franchise announcement and Cinemark’s release listing. |
| United Kingdom | October 15, 2027, in Universal Pictures UK’s announcement and film listing. |
| Directors | Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo known as Radio Silence. |
| Screenwriter | David Coggeshall. |
| Plot, streaming and other territories | No detailed synopsis, streaming date or complete country schedule established by the checked announcements. |
Universal’s UK page uses Book of the Dead, without an extra “The” before “Book.” Variety’s headline includes that additional word; the studio’s own title takes precedence here.
The studio listing is sparse. It supports the name and UK date, rather than a detailed new-film synopsis. A cinema information page also does not, by itself, establish that tickets or local showtimes are available.
Who is returning?
Fraser and Weisz are reprising Rick and Evie, according to Variety and the Cinemark listing. The announced cast also includes John Hannah, Michael Johnston, Numan Acar, Kevin J. O’Connor and Oded Fehr.
That cast list should not be expanded into unannounced character identities or plot explanations. An actor’s involvement does not reveal how a character appears, the story’s period or whether a particular legacy villain returns.
Fraser and Weisz appeared together in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001). Weisz did not appear in the 2008 third film. The returning pair connects the new production to the action-adventure series; the title alone does not settle every continuity question.
Is this Lee Cronin’s 2026 film?
No. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is a separate Warner Bros. release with a different director, cast and story. Its official site identifies the 2026 film starring Jack Reynor and Laia Costa. Its trailer and release information should not be presented as material for Universal’s Fraser–Weisz sequel.
What remains unannounced?
Variety reports that the plot is undisclosed. The sources checked here do not supply a verified official trailer for the 2027 film, a streaming window, a runtime or an exhaustive international release plan.
The practical confirmed position is the studio title, the two principal returning performers and the separately supported US and UK theatrical dates. Check the release calendar for sourced regional entries; the October 15 date should not be applied automatically to every country.
