Wildwood Sets October 19 US Fan-First Screenings Before Its October 23 Opening
LAIKA and Fathom announce Wildwood fan-first screenings at 100-plus US theaters on October 19, before the October 23 opening. Check formats and ticket details.

Wildwood will have fan-first screenings in more than 100 participating US theaters on Monday, October 19, 2026. LAIKA and Fathom Entertainment announced the early engagements on October 15, ahead of the film’s separate October 23 US nationwide opening.
For viewers planning an early visit, the useful distinction is between a participating venue’s special screening and the wider theatrical release four days later. The announcement establishes a US event, rather than a worldwide early-opening date.
What is included on October 19?
According to the joint LAIKA and Fathom announcement, the fan-first presentations include a pre-recorded welcome from director Travis Knight. That is a recorded introduction, not a promise that the filmmaker will attend each theater or take questions in person.
The events use select large formats where available. The release does not provide one universal showtime or promise an identical presentation at every location. A theater’s own listing is the place to confirm the date, auditorium and format before choosing tickets.
How do October 19 and October 23 differ?
| US date | What it means |
|---|---|
| October 19, 2026 | Fan-first screenings at participating theaters, with a recorded Knight introduction |
| October 23, 2026 | Nationwide theatrical opening; selected premium presentations where available |
Fathom identifies 4DX, DBOX and Dolby Cinema among the experiences available at selected locations beginning October 23. That list should not be read as a guarantee that every October 19 event offers all three.
Tickets are linked through Wildwood’s official site and participating theater box offices. Check the specific venue and showing rather than assuming a nearby cinema is part of the early event. Prices, seats and session times depend on that listing.
The new early screenings also precede the October 21 AFI FEST opening-night presentation described in Fathom’s September announcement. The earlier release’s “US premiere” billing should therefore be read with the subsequent October 19 public-screening announcement in view; the festival event and general opening are separate engagements.
What is Wildwood?
LAIKA’s stop-motion fantasy follows Prue McKeel, voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, into the Impassable Wilderness after crows abduct her baby brother. Curtis, voiced by Jacob Tremblay, accompanies her into a forest whose inhabitants have conflicts of their own.
Travis Knight directs and produces. Chris Butler writes the screenplay, adapting the novel by Colin Meloy, illustrated by Carson Ellis. The production describes physically crafted characters and environments animated frame by frame. That identifies its filmmaking method, rather than serving as a Red Reactions review of the finished film.

What about international cinemas and streaming?
The cited October 19 and October 23 dates concern the United States. Fathom handles US theatrical distribution; the September release names FilmNation Entertainment for international sales. A sales credit does not establish a confirmed opening day in every country.
These releases do not announce a streaming premiere or digital-rental date. Readers outside the US should use their country’s distributor or exhibitor listing rather than treat the American fan-first event as a global booking window.
