Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2: Contents, Prices and Regional Differences
Nintendo’s Zelda Switch 2 launches October 29 without a game. Compare U.S. and Japan prices, box contents, accessories and Japan-only model restrictions.
— Official U.S. and Japan listings checked October 28. The game is separate; Japan’s model is Japanese-only and links only to Japan-region accounts. Prices and first-party stock are dated observations.

Nintendo’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 releases October 29, 2026, with no game included. The U.S. listing is $519.99; Japan’s is ¥62,980 including tax, for a Japanese-language-only model that links only to Nintendo Accounts set to Japan. The separate Ocarina of Time game arrives November 5.
Nintendo announced the anniversary hardware on September 8. Here are the purchase details to check ahead of release, using official listings verified October 28.
What is in the box?
The U.S. console package, SKU 121642, contains the themed Switch 2 system, left and right green-and-gold Joy-Con 2 controllers, the decorated dock, a Joy-Con 2 grip, two straps, an AC adapter, a USB-C charging cable and an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.
The visible changes are the Zelda patterns on the system and controllers and the gold Triforce design on the black-and-gold dock. Nintendo describes a special design; it has not announced this edition as a faster hardware revision. The matching Pro Controller and carrying case are separate purchases.
U.S. and Japan: check the exact model
| Official market listing | Console price | Hardware release | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | US$519.99 | October 29, 2026 | No bundled game; U.S. SKU 121642 |
| Japan | ¥62,980, tax included | October 29, 2026 | Japanese-Language System (Japan Only); no bundled game |
These are regional listings, rather than a worldwide price list. Nintendo’s U.S. systems store showed this console as sold out when checked October 28. That describes Nintendo’s own listing at that check, not every retailer or future stock.
The Japanese model page is explicit: its supported system language is Japanese, and it can link only to Nintendo Accounts whose country/region is Japan. Those restrictions apply to that Japan-only model; they should not be generalized to the U.S. edition. An imported Japanese unit is therefore a materially different purchase for someone expecting another system language or an existing non-Japan account.
Which accessories are sold separately?
Nintendo’s U.S. accessory listings distinguish three anniversary purchases:
- Pro Controller: US$99.99, without the display stand.
- Pro Controller with display stand: US$109.99.
- Carrying case and screen protector: US$39.99.
The Japan announcement lists the controller-and-stand package at ¥12,980 and the case-and-screen-protector package at ¥3,980, both including tax. These accessories are scheduled for October 29. Prices were checked October 28; match the named package before comparing markets.
Does it include Ocarina of Time?
No. Nintendo says the console does not come with a game. Its U.S. Ocarina of Time listing gives November 5, 2026 for the separate Switch 2 title, one week after the hardware. Our Ocarina of Time gameplay breakdown covers its announced controls and features.
Before ordering
Check the retailer’s country, exact model and package contents, especially if importing. Budget separately for the game and any optional accessories. Confirm current price and stock on the seller’s own listing; the dates above do not establish a worldwide unlock hour, international shipping service or identical availability across markets.
