Chris Pratt Says Star-Lord Will Return — but Names No Marvel Project
Chris Pratt says Marvel has taken steps toward Star-Lord’s return. What his interview establishes, the Guardians 3 promise and the unconfirmed Avengers theories.

Chris Pratt says Star-Lord will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he has not named the film or series. His latest comments describe discussions and concrete steps with Marvel executives; they do not announce a new production or release date.
Pratt addressed Peter Quill’s future in The Playlist’s October 21 interview, while promoting The Terminal List. He said he had been talking with Kevin Feige and Lou D’Esposito about delivering on the return promised at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
What did Pratt say about Star-Lord’s return?
The actor described both ongoing conversations and “hard action” toward making that return happen. He said audiences would see Star-Lord again, while declining to disclose when.
That is a direct statement from the actor about his character’s future. It is more specific than a general expression of interest in playing Quill again, but the interview leaves the actual assignment undisclosed.
TheWrap’s follow-up carries the same remarks and reports that Marvel Studios declined to comment. Neither report identifies a named Star-Lord film, a television order, a filming schedule or a release window.
What did Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 promise?
The 2023 film ended with the message “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return.” TheWrap recounts how Quill returned to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather as the original team went in different directions.
The end card promised another appearance, without specifying its format. Pratt’s comments address that promise; they do not establish that the next appearance will be a solo film, another Guardians installment or a particular crossover.
The image above is an official archival still from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, released in the United States on May 5, 2023. It is not an image from a newly announced project.
Is Star-Lord confirmed for Doomsday or Secret Wars?
Not by these sources. The interview and TheWrap discuss possibilities without establishing a casting announcement for either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
The useful distinction is between Pratt saying a return is being worked on and Marvel publicly naming the production. A title, cast announcement or dated studio release would answer where and when Quill returns. For now, the actor’s assurance is on the record; the destination remains undisclosed.
