Cities: Skylines — Expanded Edition launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 28, 2026. This is a new edition of the original city builder, with a larger build area and bundled content. It is not a Switch 2 release of Cities: Skylines II.

For existing Switch owners, the useful questions are what the bundle contains, how the loyalty offer works and whether an old city can come along. The publisher’s announcement settles the first question and announces a discount, but leaves important ownership and save details open.

Confirmed release and price references

These prices are regional references. A Swedish SEK price and a precise regional unlock hour have not been established in the checked announcement. Check your local Nintendo storefront before committing to a purchase.

The frame-rate figures are targets, not our benchmark results or a guarantee of constant performance in a large city. There is no basis here for a native-4K claim. Decide between responsiveness and image quality once the edition’s actual options and performance can be assessed.

Which ten DLC packs are included?

The bundle lists After Dark, Snowfall, Green Cities, Sunset Harbor, Map Pack 3, Country Road, Pearls from East, Deep Focus Radio, Carols, Candles & Candy, and Match Day. This mixes expansions, maps, radio and other content; it should not be read as ten major expansions or the complete DLC catalogue.

For a buyer comparing editions, match those names against the content you actually want. A bundle’s item count alone says little about whether it supplies a particular map or expansion you already use elsewhere.

Building tools and controls

The announcement also identifies a Map Editor, placement-distance and snapping tools, Quick Selection, environmental controls, and keyboard/mouse support alongside controller controls. Generic keyboard/mouse support does not establish a specific Joy-Con mouse-mode implementation.

The practical value of the larger tile allowance is additional room to plan a city. It does not establish that a save built on another platform can be imported. Treat building capacity and migration as separate features until migration is explicitly documented.

The 70% loyalty discount has unanswered conditions

The offer is announced for owners of the original Cities: Skylines — Nintendo Switch Edition. Its stated window runs from launch through April 28, 2027. It is a purchase discount, rather than an announced free upgrade.

The checked release does not explain physical-copy eligibility, account or region checks, how the offer is redeemed, or save transfer. Existing owners should look for those conditions in their local eShop listing or official support guidance before assuming their copy qualifies. Likewise, do not delete an old save on the assumption that this edition will import it.

Keep the separate PC and console content update separate

The same announcement mentions Holiday Getaways, Mansions & Manors and Blueprint Beats Radio for PC, PlayStation and Xbox on October 28. Those names are separate from the ten-item Switch 2 bundle above. A simultaneous announcement is not evidence that every platform gets the same package.

The official Cities: Skylines channel’s embedded trailer introduces Expanded Edition. It illustrates the announced edition; it does not substitute for migration documentation or independent performance testing.
