CONTROL Resonant: Release Date, Dylan Faden and Everything We Know Before Launch

CONTROL Resonant launches worldwide on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with GeForce NOW support at launch and a Mac version planned for later in 2026. Remedy Entertainment’s sequel to Control drops the original’s protagonist, Jesse Faden, from the playable cast entirely — this time you play as her brother, Dylan.

Who Is Dylan Faden?

If you haven’t played the first Control, here’s what you need going in. Dylan is Jesse’s younger brother, taken as a child by the Federal Bureau of Control for his own paranatural abilities and held in the Bureau’s containment as Prime Candidate 6. During Control’s story, Dylan surrendered to a mind-altering force called the Hiss, telling Jesse he saw it as his liberator. Jesse eventually purged the Hiss from him, but the fight left him comatose — his condition uncertain, how much of him remained unclear.

CONTROL Resonant picks up with Dylan awake and thrust into circumstances he didn’t choose. Remedy’s own framing: he has to “step into a role he was never prepared for — humanity’s last line of defense.” Jesse is missing when the story begins. Remedy hasn’t said what happened to her beyond that, and this guide isn’t going to guess.

What’s Actually Changed From Control

The core premise: a new paranatural crisis, described by Remedy as involving a resonance phenomenon and a corrupting force called the Mold, is warping Manhattan itself. Where the first game confined players to the shifting halls of the Oldest House, Resonant moves the action into a real, open city.

Remedy describes CONTROL Resonant as an action-adventure RPG — a genre label the original Control never used — and the combat identity built around Dylan is different from Jesse’s telekinetic, gun-and-powers kit. Dylan’s signature weapon is the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon that Remedy says can morph between forms like a two-handed hammer and dual-wielded blades. Official materials describe combat built around switching between the Aberrant’s forms, elemental abilities, and environmental interaction, with a progression system for shaping how Dylan’s paranatural abilities develop over the game. Remedy frames those abilities as tied to Dylan channeling “the raw experiences of his past” rather than functioning as a copy of Jesse’s powers from the first game.

Don’t read any of that as a confirmed moveset or a locked skill tree — Remedy’s own material describes systems and intentions, not a finished breakdown of every mechanic, and nothing here should be treated as more specific than what’s actually been shown.

Editions and the PS5-Only Early Access

The Digital Deluxe Edition ($69.99 on Steam) adds a digital artbook, the original soundtrack, a wallet item, a starter resource bundle, and a special outfit on top of the base game. Here’s the detail worth double-checking before you buy: the 48-hour early access window tied to the Digital Deluxe Edition is exclusive to PS5. PS5 Digital Deluxe buyers can start September 22, two days ahead of everyone else; the PS5 Standard Edition, along with every Xbox and PC edition, unlocks on the September 24 worldwide date with no early window. Pre-ordering now, regardless of edition, also comes with a Hiss Corruption Outfit and a Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact.

Where to Play It

CONTROL Resonant is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), with GeForce NOW streaming support at launch. Remedy has said a Mac version is coming via Steam and the App Store, but hasn’t given it a specific date beyond “later in 2026” — treat Mac as a confirmed platform with an unconfirmed release window, not a day-one option.

What We Still Don’t Know

Remedy hasn’t detailed what happened to Jesse Faden beyond her being missing, hasn’t laid out a full skill tree or ability list for Dylan, and hasn’t confirmed exact mission structure, boss identities, or how the story resolves.
