Dungeon Crawler Carl #1 is due in January 2027 as the start of an ongoing monthly comic from Vault Comics. The first issue will contain 48 pages, combining episodes 1 and 2 of the existing WEBTOON adaptation rather than introducing a brand-new Carl and Princess Donut storyline.

The details come from Vault and Matt Dinniman’s October 22 announcement, distributed to comics media and reproduced by First Comics News. Nerdist’s same-day report corroborates the January launch, larger first issue and monthly schedule.

What will issue #1 include?

Vault describes a serialization of the WEBTOON with artwork scaled for conventional comic-book pages. Issue #1 combines its first two episodes. The new element being announced is the monthly single-issue format, not a claim that these opening story events have never been published.

FormatHow it relates to the January launch
WEBTOONExisting adaptation being serialized in print
Monthly comic #148 pages, collecting episodes 1–2; January 2027
Earlier issue #0A separate introductory release, not January’s #1
Prose novelsDinniman’s books, distinct from the comic format

The earlier #0 and this larger first issue should therefore not be treated as interchangeable editions. The announcement does not give an episode-to-issue map for the entire ongoing run.

Who is making the comic?

The announced story credits are Matt Dinniman and Tevagah, with art by Laurel Pursuit Studios and Kuzomari. Nathan Gooden supplies the main A covers. Variant artists named by the publisher include Ryan Ottley, Brett Bean and Frank Cho, among others.

These credits concern the comic. They should not be used as a cast list, production schedule or release announcement for a screen adaptation.

When and where does it launch?

Vault’s announced window is January 2027 in comic-book stores, followed by monthly issues. No exact January day is supplied. The release also does not establish a country-by-country translated-edition schedule, so a publisher’s month window should not be read as one guaranteed worldwide shop date.

Readers choosing where to begin should distinguish a story format from a sequel. Our Dungeon Crawler Carl books-and-editions guide covers the prose series; this announcement concerns the serialized comic adaptation. The cover shown here is Gooden’s announced #1 artwork, not an image from the television project.
