Gotham by Daylight is DC and WEBTOON’s new horror anthology, announced for an October 19, 2026 debut. Written by Mike Birchall, creator of Everything Is Fine, it places Gotham’s ordinary residents in a city where daylight never ends and a supernatural threat called The Daylight waits beneath that apparent safety.

The date comes from the October 10 New York Comic Con announcement, reproduced in K-Comics Beat’s panel report. This is an introduction to the announced series, rather than a review of a first episode.

What kind of Gotham story is this?

The premise reverses the familiar image of Gotham after dark. Constant sunlight does not remove its dangers; the publisher’s outline instead focuses on how residents cope with a mysterious supernatural force.

Birchall describes the project in his own creator announcement as a horror anthology inspired by Batman: The Animated Series and Uzumaki. Those are his stated influences, not an announcement of a crossover or a shared continuity with either work.

An anthology framing also matters: the announcement emphasizes people’s individual horror stories and their communities. It does not supply a complete episode list, final ending or a confirmed explanation for The Daylight.

Are Duke Thomas and Damian Wayne involved?

Birchall names Duke and Damian alongside Gotham’s ordinary citizens. That establishes their announced involvement, without revealing their precise actions or fates.

DC’s character biography identifies Duke Thomas as the Signal, a protector associated with Gotham’s daytime. That existing identity offers useful background for a daylight-centered story, but it does not prove how his abilities work in this particular anthology. Nor does the announcement settle Batman’s whereabouts or establish that a character has died.

Who makes the comic?

The press announcement identifies Birchall as writer. His creator post credits ekasseks for inks, jinxcrest101 for storyboards and Paula Fidelis for colours. It also names hyakunanaarts for flats and renders, pingapenguin and felico_studio_bkk for backgrounds, and roival23 for letters, using the team’s credited social handles.

The promotional illustration above is the actual series artwork attached to that post. Its thornlike vines and trapped figure provide a visual introduction, without establishing a particular episode’s outcome.

Where can you read it, and is it free?

WEBTOON is the announced platform. Birchall says episodes are planned to release free each week. That is the creator’s stated publishing plan; it is not a verified promise about every territory, language version or potential paid early-access option.

At the October 19 check, a direct live series or first-episode permalink was not independently verified. Readers can check WEBTOON’s official title search for current availability. The announced date alone does not establish an exact unlock hour, and this verification limit should not be read as a confirmed delay.

Gotham by Daylight is a separate project from Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, whose fifth season was discussed in the same panel report. They have different stated tones; no reading dependency or shared timeline was established. Our DC GO reading guide also covers a different digital-comics service, rather than an alternative home for this WEBTOON series.
