God of War Laufey Pre-Orders Are Live: Serpent Bow and Editions Explained
God of War Laufey launches on PS5 February 16, 2027. Here are the confirmed pre-order bonuses, Digital Deluxe contents and Serpent Bow combat details.

God of War Laufey launches on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. The US PlayStation Store now lists Standard and Digital Deluxe editions for pre-order. Santa Monica Studio’s September update also explains Faye’s Serpent Bow, which has distinct precision and mobile firing modes. Pre-order availability and prices can vary by region, so check your local store before buying.
When does God of War Laufey release?
PlayStation confirms February 16, 2027, for PS5. No PC, Xbox or Switch version has been announced for this game. Sony calls it the next mainline God of War entry, with Laufey, also known as Faye, as the playable lead; it is not presented as an add-on to Ragnarök.
What is Faye’s story?
Faye awakens unexpectedly after her funeral and learns that the plans she made to protect Kratos and Atreus are at risk. Her journey takes her through the Everywhen, which Santa Monica Studio describes as an afterlife of the gods. The studio says Faye was the Golden Hand of the Jötnar and can manipulate souls, with those abilities amplified in the Everywhen. The first-look announcement gives this premise, but does not establish that Kratos or Atreus are playable.
How does the Serpent Bow work?
The September 28 PlayStation Blog update describes two ways to fire Faye’s new bow:
| Mode | What Santa Monica Studio confirms |
|---|---|
| Full-aim | A full press of the aim trigger gives more precise aim and longer draw distance. Targeting certain body points can impair an enemy’s movement or ability to attack. Faye can charge and stack up to five arrows for a volley. |
| Half-aim | A half press puts Faye in a more mobile hip-fire stance. She fires a cluster of arrows at close range and can use quick shots to juggle airborne enemies and extend combos. |
The studio also names rapid-fire, explosive and multi-target arrows as examples, not a complete list. Equippable Serpent Scales change the bow’s appearance and grant a playstyle perk; the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales are one example. Unlockable bow skills are confirmed, but Sony has not published a complete skill tree.

What else can you customize?
Sony says armor can have different perks, stats and appearances. Faye’s other configurable equipment includes her Blade (part of her sword), Scales (part of the Serpent Bow) and Catalyst. Catalysts are artifacts that channel Everywhen magic, with different effects. The announcement does not specify a full equipment roster, upgrade costs or item rarity system.
What comes with a pre-order?
PlayStation lists the Last Wish Armor Set, a Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance (cosmetic) and an in-game resource pack as pre-order bonuses. In-game items unlock through story progression. The physical Standard Edition’s bonus comes by download code and requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account; check local packaging for regional terms.
The US store currently shows both Standard and Digital Deluxe pre-order options. Sony’s September announcement says pre-orders open September 29 at 10:00 a.m. local time. We are not treating the US store listing as proof of identical availability or pricing in every market.
What is in the Digital Deluxe Edition?
Alongside the base game, Sony lists the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Blade, Bow Scales and Catalyst, an in-game resource pack, a digital mini artbook and the official digital soundtrack. The US store also lists a separate Digital Deluxe Upgrade with the Deluxe extras. No early-play period or story expansion is listed as part of these editions.
