MADiSON is being developed into a feature film by Story Kitchen and game developer Bloodious Games. Bloodious confirmed the partnership in its October 26 announcement, while Variety’s original report says a theatrical release is the aim. The project does not yet have a distribution partner or an announced release date.

The agreement establishes a film in development. It does not establish that filming has begun, that a cinema release has been booked or that the movie will follow the original game’s story beat for beat.

What the MADiSON movie announcement confirms

In its official developer update, Bloodious says it has teamed up with Story Kitchen to develop a feature set in MADiSON’s world. The studio’s own website also carries the film announcement and links to Variety’s reporting.

Variety reports that Story Kitchen has reached an agreement with the developer, with theaters as the intended destination. Distribution remains unresolved: an ambition to release theatrically is not a distributor commitment or a confirmed list of countries.

What is the game about?

The original 2022 first-person psychological horror game puts players in the role of Luca. Bloodious’ official synopsis describes a demonic force compelling him to continue a violent ritual begun decades earlier.

Its instant camera connects the human world with the supernatural. Taking and developing photographs is part of exploring the house and solving its puzzles. Those are defining elements of the game being adapted; they are not confirmation of the film’s screenplay, casting or individual scenes.

Who is directing it, and when will it release?

Neither the developer announcement nor Variety’s report names a director, screenwriter or cast. There is also no announced filming schedule, distributor, premiere date or film trailer in those sources.

The useful distinction is between the partnership, which Bloodious has confirmed, and the production details still to come. The game artwork accompanying this article illustrates the source material and should not be mistaken for a movie poster or production still.

The 2027 DLC is a separate project

Bloodious also gives The Maxwells’ Curse a 2027 window. That is a story expansion for the game, described as free for MADiSON owners, following Alyssa after the original game’s events.

2027 is not an announced release window for the film, and The Maxwells’ Curse has not been announced as its title. The new game content and the film-development agreement are separate parts of the studio’s update.
