Gundam Battle Operation 3: PS5, Steam Cross-Play and Japan-Only Test
Gundam Battle Operation 3 is free-to-play on PS5 and Steam with cross-play. Check Japan-only network-test eligibility, November sessions and what remains unknown.
— Official game, system, English announcement and Japan test terms checked. Launch date TBD; Japan-resident GBO2 players only for this test. Test saves do not carry over; GBO2 purchase/progression transfer is unannounced.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 is coming to PS5 and PC via Steam as a free-to-play team combat game with cross-play. Bandai Namco announced it on October 28, 2026. The official English site lists its release date as TBD. A Japan-only closed network test has separate eligibility and November dates; it is not the full launch.
Platforms, price and cross-play
The announced platforms are PS5 and Steam, with cross-play between them. The game is free-to-play with some paid content. An internet connection and a PlayStation Network or Steam account are required. The official specification lists 1–18 players; that is not a promise that every match or mode uses 18.
PS4 is not an announced GBO3 platform. Its appearance in the test application rules concerns existing Battle Operation 2 players who can apply, rather than a PS4 test client.
Mobile Suits, infantry and new systems
Bandai Namco’s announcement describes combined combat in which players can leave their Mobile Suit to pursue objectives on foot, including base bombs and support fire. The system page highlights SP Skills, while the English release describes Battle Assist, an interface feature intended to make executing combos easier. These are announced systems, rather than findings from our own play session.
The publisher also confirms Mobile Suit Gundam SEED units for the initial release, alongside Universal Century participation. That launch plan should not be read as the test roster: the Japanese test page lists its own limited set of playable units and modes.
Who can join the Japan-only network test?
The official Japanese terms require applicants to be Battle Operation 2 players resident in Japan, willing to provide questionnaire feedback. They need a Bandai Namco ID linked to PlayStation or Steam. Selection is by lottery; applying does not guarantee a place.
Applications are scheduled to open October 29 after GBO2 maintenance and close November 8, 2026 at 23:59 JST. Eligible players use the dedicated application page shown through GBO2. Existing PS4 GBO2 players may apply, but the GBO3 test itself runs on PS5 or Steam.
November test sessions — JST
| Test date | Scheduled sessions, Japan Standard Time |
|---|---|
| November 20, 2026 | 09:00–12:00; 15:00–18:00; 21:00–24:00 JST |
| November 22, 2026 | 09:00–12:00; 15:00–18:00; 21:00–24:00 JST |
The published schedule uses 24:00 for midnight at the end of each test day. It remains subject to the test’s terms and possible changes.
The test supports cross-platform play. Rating matches allow up to 6v6; custom matches, scheduled for November 22, allow up to 9v9. Those are test configurations, rather than a complete final-release mode list.
What happens to progress?
Network-test save and play data cannot transfer to the final release. That confirmed restriction is separate from the unanswered question of whether GBO2 purchases, unlocks or progression will carry into GBO3. The checked announcement does not establish such a transfer scheme.
No final release date, launch-country list or test outside Japan has been announced in these sources. Players elsewhere should not treat the Japanese application page as a worldwide beta invitation.
