Squadron 42 has opened Steam wishlists and released its official The Oath trailer on October 10, 2026. Its store page lists a planned Q2 2027 release. You can register interest now, but the listing does not make the game available to buy or play.

Cloud Imperium Games develops the single-player adventure, with Roberts Space Industries listed as publisher. The Steam arrival gives prospective players a direct storefront to follow; it does not settle every question about access for people who previously backed the project.

How to wishlist Squadron 42 on Steam

Open the official Squadron 42 Steam page and use Add to your wishlist while signed in. At the time of our October 10 check, Steam describes the game as not yet available and shows the planned quarter rather than a purchase offer.

Q2 2027 means April through June 2027. It is a release window, not an announced day within those three months. There is no basis in this listing for turning it into an April launch or a guaranteed June deadline. Follow the current window alongside other upcoming games in our release calendar.

What is Squadron 42?

This is the narrative single-player game set in the Star Citizen universe, rather than a new update to its persistent multiplayer universe. The developer’s store description puts the player in the role of a rookie UEE Navy pilot, with ship combat and action on foot across capital ships, stations and frontier outposts.

The official screenshot above shows an armored figure approaching a spacecraft in a hangar. It is general game imagery from the new store page, not evidence of a downloadable demo. Likewise, promotional footage should not be treated as a performance test or a hands-on verdict.

The original upload comes from the Squadron 42 channel and runs 3 minutes 34 seconds. It accompanies the wishlist announcement; it is not a separate release-date confirmation beyond the store’s stated quarter.

Do existing backers get Steam access?

That is not established by the checked announcement sources. Steam says a third-party Roberts Space Industries account is required, with Steam account linking supported. Linking accounts and receiving an entitlement are different things: that notice does not promise a Steam key, transfer a historical pledge or explain which existing packages qualify.

Existing owners should look for an explicit RSI entitlement announcement before assuming they need to buy again or will automatically receive a Steam copy. For new players, the verified next step is simply wishlisting. The listing checked here supports Windows PC; it does not establish PS5 or Xbox versions.
