Battlefront 3 Reported as EA Confirms an Unnamed DICE–Respawn Project
Variety identifies EA’s DICE–Respawn collaboration as Star Wars: Battlefront 3. EA confirms the studios are teaming up, but has not named the game.

Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is the reported identity of a new DICE–Respawn collaboration, according to Variety. EA has confirmed that the studios will work together, but has not publicly named the project Battlefront 3.
That is the boundary between the two pieces of news. EA’s October 21 employee announcement establishes the collaboration; Variety’s October 22 reporting supplies the proposed game identity through multiple unnamed sources.
What did EA confirm?
In the shooter section of its portfolio update, EA says Respawn and DICE will collaborate on a future project. The company discusses it alongside its wider shooter strategy and separately from future Battlefield titles.
The same memo also names the next Star Wars Jedi game in its action-adventure plans. That is a separate reference. It does not mean the unnamed DICE–Respawn project and the Jedi sequel are one game, or that the Jedi announcement confirms Battlefront’s title.
What does Variety’s Battlefront 3 report establish?
Variety says multiple sources identified the collaboration as Star Wars: Battlefront 3 for Lucasfilm. This is attributable industry reporting rather than an EA or Lucasfilm title reveal. Readers can take the report seriously while retaining that difference in confirmation.
| Detail | What the sources establish |
|---|---|
| DICE and Respawn collaboration | Confirmed in EA’s public memo |
| Battlefront 3 identity | Reported by Variety’s sources |
| Release date or window | Not announced for this project |
| Platforms, modes and monetization | Not established |
| New trailer or gameplay screenshots | Not supplied by these announcements |
Does the older Battlefront II tell us what the new game will contain?
No. The image here is an official Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) screenshot from EA’s game gallery. Its Kamino scene identifies the earlier franchise entry; it is not footage or concept art from the reported new project.
That distinction also applies to heroes, eras, maps, game modes and purchase models. None should be carried forward from an older game and presented as a confirmed feature of this one.
An official EA or Lucasfilm announcement naming the game would resolve its public identity. A platform list, release window or trailer would require its own announcement. Until then, reported Battlefront sequel and confirmed studio collaboration remain the accurate descriptions. Follow our gaming coverage for later verified updates.
