Monster Train 2: The Punished launches on November 10, 2026 as paid DLC for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox. Big Fan and Shiny Shoe’s October 28 announcement gives an announced US price of $7.99.

The same release also announces Switch 2, iOS and Android versions of Monster Train 2 for later in 2026, with The Punished available on those platforms. It does not give those new ports a November 10 date.

The Steam DLC page also lists November 10 and explicitly requires the base game Monster Train 2. The $7.99 announcement concerns the DLC, rather than a standalone copy of the game or a confirmed mobile bundle.

Local store prices, exact unlock hours and cross-platform ownership entitlements are not established by this announcement.

Archus leads a clan built around taking damage

The new playable clan, The Punished, is led by Archus, Darkness Incarnate. Its announced approach turns damage to friendly units into useful effects, creating a risk-and-reward system around keeping those units alive.

The developer’s Steam description explains several connected mechanics:

  • Punish effects activate when friendly spells or abilities damage a unit.
  • Bloodshed rewards damage taken by friendly units on the same floor.
  • Chained makes enemies share damage dealt to your units.
  • Tenacious prevents friendly damage from delivering the killing blow.

Those are the developer’s descriptions, not a tested deck-building recommendation or a verdict on how strong the clan will be.

What do the Monolith, Devotion and Zeal do?

During a battle, players can spend Ember and discard cards as Tribute to the Monolith, increasing Devotion over the run. Higher Devotion strengthens certain cards and gives newly summoned units stacks of Zeal, which increase Attack and maximum Health.

That connects choices made in individual battles to the clan’s growing power. The published descriptions establish the relationship between the systems without supplying a complete balance analysis.

One million players and the current update plan

Big Fan and Shiny Shoe say Monster Train 2 has reached more than one million players. That is a publisher-reported player milestone, not an independently verified count of copies sold.

The announcement describes The Punished as concluding the game’s current series of post-launch content updates, following free updates and the earlier Destiny of the Railforged DLC. It does not announce that every form of support is ending or settle all future-content possibilities.

Our gaming coverage and release calendar distinguish the dated DLC from the still-undated Switch 2 and mobile launches.
