Nue’s Exorcist Anime Set for Summer 2027: Studio, Cast and Teaser

Nue’s Exorcist is getting a TV anime in summer 2027, with Studio Hibari producing the adaptation of Kota Kawae’s manga. The October 12 announcement confirms a broadcast on the TV Asahi network in Japan, alongside a teaser visual, a short promotional video and the first cast and staff credits.

That is a Japanese broadcast window. An exact premiere date and international streaming arrangements have not been announced by the production.

Who is making the anime?

The official production site lists Hiroyuki Hashimoto as director, Hiroshi Seko on series composition and Shunpei Mochizuki on character design. Takayuki Yamaguchi is sound director, with music by MONACA and animation production by Studio Hibari.

The manga, also known as Nue no Onmyoji (鵺の陰陽師), runs in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. The announcement identifies it as the original work; it does not specify an episode count or how far into the manga the anime will adapt.

The confirmed Japanese voice cast

The official site also introduces Shiroha Fujino and Shitotsu Tomesode, but their cast slots currently say “Coming Soon.” Those character introductions should not be treated as additional casting announcements.

What is Nue’s Exorcist about?

Gakuro has been able to see beings called Genyo since childhood. At his high school, he discovers a hidden room inhabited by Nue, a mysterious female spirit with a fondness for pop culture who has spent decades waiting for someone to find her.

Their meeting changes Gakuro’s life. The production describes the series as a school-set dark fantasy combining his growth with supernatural battles. That gives the anime a clear premise without establishing which later manga confrontations or story arcs will appear.

Watch the official teaser

The video embedded above is the 45-second teaser published by Shueisha’s Jump Channel, also embedded on the anime’s official video announcement. The accompanying key visual depicts Gakuro and Nue; it is official anime promotional artwork rather than a fan illustration or a manga cover relabeled as a still.

The remaining practical details are the exact Japanese start date, additional casting and overseas distribution. Coverage by a streaming company’s news outlet does not itself establish a streaming licence, so there is no confirmed international service to name yet. Follow the official anime site for those announcements, or browse our anime news for other confirmed adaptations.
