Outward 2 enters PC Early Access on February 8, 2027, according to Nine Dots Studio’s October 8 announcement and Epic Games Store’s dated showcase report. This is the start of an unfinished version, rather than a confirmed version 1.0 release.

The date follows an earlier delay. Nine Dots has also published a more detailed Early Access FAQ, making it possible to distinguish the planned launch content from work intended for the full game.

Why does Steam show February 7?

The checked Steam listing displays February 7, 2027, while the studio and Epic name February 8. The reason for that difference is unverified; it should not be presented as a confirmed timezone conversion or a new delay.

We use the developer-announced February 8 date, with the discrepancy recorded here and in our release calendar. An exact global unlock hour has not been established.

Which PC stores are confirmed?

Nine Dots’ original trailer description names Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. Its product page links all three. The checked announcement does not confirm console versions or subscription-service access.

These are storefront choices for the PC Early Access release. They do not imply that progress can move between stores or that every co-op combination supports crossplay.

What is planned for the initial version?

The developer’s current Steam FAQ lists:

ContentEarly Access plan
RegionsThree fully playable open-world regions; another playable region to improve during Early Access
Starting scenariosThree, each beginning in a different city
Quest linesThree, with three missions available in each; seven per line planned for 1.0
TrainersSix
EquipmentMost progression gear and weapons

The fourth region is described as playable but still being improved, rather than wholly unavailable. These are development plans, not a review of a finished launch build.

What is waiting for 1.0?

Nine Dots plans completed quest lines, full voice-over, more dungeons and more bosses. The FAQ estimates 12–18 months to reach 1.0 and explicitly allows development to take longer in response to feedback.

That estimate is not a promised final release date. Counting forward from February and publishing a fixed 1.0 day would give the timetable more certainty than the developer does.

Can you play together?

The official product page advertises single-player, online co-op and local split-screen. The Steam description also says there is no matchmaking system and describes players joining or leaving each other’s worlds.

Arrange a co-op partner rather than assuming the game will automatically find one. Crossplay details between storefronts remain unverified, and a shared PC launch date does not answer that question.

How much will Early Access cost?

The FAQ says the Early Access price will be discounted relative to the full version, but the checked material does not establish an exact USD or SEK price. It also does not promise a particular launch-day performance level.

For readers deciding when to start, the confirmed tradeoff is partial quest content and continuing development in exchange for earlier access at the planned lower price. The final price, finalized content and 1.0 date require later announcements.
