Planet Zoo 2 Launch Guide: Platforms, Editions, Animals and PC Requirements
Planet Zoo 2 is listed as released on October 13. Compare Standard and Deluxe, six extra animals, PC specs and the reported digital and physical launch timings.

Planet Zoo 2 has reached its October 13, 2026 release date, and Steam now lists it as released. Frontier’s announced launch platforms are Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Standard contains the base game; Deluxe bundles six additional animal species and their decorative signs.
The biggest additions to the original game’s formula are fully aquatic animals, flying birds and conservation projects extending into Wildlife Reserves. Here is what the current listings establish before you choose an edition or check your PC.
Release time and storefront status
At our October 13 check, Steam showed Released / October 13 and an Add to Cart button. The US PlayStation Store also offered purchase, while the Epic Games Store Windows listing displayed Buy Now. These are current storefront signals, rather than confirmation that downloads have succeeded in every territory.
GameWatcher reported a simultaneous digital unlock at 14:00 UTC on October 13, with physical PS5 and Xbox Series editions following October 20. We have not independently recovered Frontier’s original clock announcement or a primary physical-edition schedule, so those two details remain attributed reporting. Check your retailer for a physical copy’s regional release and delivery date.
The platform lineup is PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A storefront purchase listing does not establish subscription inclusion or availability on an unlisted console.
Standard, Deluxe and the former preorder bonus
| Edition or add-on | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Standard | Planet Zoo 2 base game |
| Deluxe Edition | Base game plus the Deluxe Upgrade Pack |
| Deluxe Upgrade Pack | Six extra species and exclusive animal signs; requires the base game |
| Bonus Content Pack | Decorative preorder extras, also listed separately on Steam and PlayStation Store |
The Deluxe Upgrade Pack’s official listing names Golden Eagle, Golden Lion Tamarin, Great Hammerhead Shark, Axolotl, Blue and Gold Fusilier, and Longfin Batfish. Deluxe’s extra animals are distinct from the Bonus Content Pack’s decorative items.
Frontier’s May announcement identified those bonus decorations as the Toucan Eat Shop and Signage, three animal donation bins and a Tiger Photo Stand-In Wall. An old preorder promotion should not be read as a promise that a new post-launch base-game purchase includes them. Check the actual contents of the edition in your store.
As checked on October 13, the US Steam and US PlayStation listings showed $49.99 for Standard and $64.99 for Deluxe. Those are dated US storefront prices, not international prices or a guarantee that every retailer charges the same amount.
What changes in the sequel?
In his Xbox Wire announcement breakdown, game director Gareth Hughes explains that aquariums and aviaries are customizable habitats. Flying birds use the aviary space, while aquatic species navigate beneath the water; suitable aviaries can also admit guests.
Wildlife Reserves take conservation beyond the zoo itself. The announced system involves global projects and releasing animals into habitats that players develop. Hughes also describes animal behavior communicating welfare through what players can see, such as a tiger becoming lethargic when unhappy with its environment.
The Epic listing confirms Career, Franchise and Sandbox modes, together with Frontier Workshop support for sharing and downloading creations across platforms. These are advertised features, rather than a hands-on performance assessment.
PC requirements
The following specifications come from Frontier’s current Steam and Epic listings. Both require a 64-bit system, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12 and 40 GB storage.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 or 11 | Windows 11 |
| CPU | Intel i7-8700K / Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel i7-10700K / Ryzen 7 5800X |
| GPU | RTX 2060 6 GB / RX 5600 XT 6 GB / Arc A750 8 GB | RTX 3070 8 GB / RX 6700 XT 12 GB / Arc A770 16 GB |
| Drive | SSD recommended | SSD required by Steam’s recommended specification |
Steam notes that continued Windows 10 compatibility cannot be guaranteed following the end of Microsoft’s support. Meeting these specifications is not a published promise of a particular frame rate, resolution or maximum zoo size.
For upcoming launches beyond this release, use the release calendar. Frontier also has a separate Disney management game in development; that announcement concerns another project.
