Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced update 1.0.8 is scheduled for October 27 at 14:00 UTC, with New Game+, configurable Nightmare difficulty and new rewards. Ubisoft’s detailed patch notes give that time for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. New Game+ retains equipment and upgrades while resetting the adventure’s story and exploration progress.

There is a wording discrepancy between Ubisoft’s pages: the October 26 patch notes say October 27, while its separate feature overview says the update is already live. We are using the explicit rollout schedule and have not independently verified an early release.

What carries over into New Game+?

Ubisoft’s two explanations distinguish owned upgrades from access to the places and characters that use them. You retain Jackdaw improvements, for example, but must regain access to the ship through the story. Officers’ unlocked abilities remain available, although the officers themselves must be recruited again.

ProgressNew Game+ treatment
Edward’s equipmentTools, upgrades, unlocked weapons and trinkets carry over.
JackdawUpgrades, unlocked officer abilities and pets carry over; recruit officers again.
InventoryMoney, materials and trade goods remain; quest-related items are removed.
Appearance and hideoutUnlocked outfits and customization options remain, along with hideout progression, perks and art. Story access must be regained.
Fleet and CodexKenway fleet ships and acquired Codex items, including treasure maps, carry over.
Store purchasesPurchased items remain.
World and questsStory progress, active quests, map discovery, location progress and cleared forts reset.

This makes the practical choice clearer: starting again preserves much of your build, but it means replaying the campaign and uncovering the map. Keeping a ship upgrade is not the same as beginning with the Jackdaw immediately accessible.

Five cycles and the new Escudos currency

The update supports five New Game+ cycles, with increasing danger on successive runs. Escudos are a currency for those playthroughs, earned through challenges and previously completed chests; Reales can also be exchanged at the General Store.

Escudos buy New Game+ outfits and items. Existing Reales purchases retain their vendors and costs, according to the patch notes. Ubisoft has also hidden community chests with extra rewards, without publishing an easy location guide in the announcement.

What Nightmare difficulty changes

Ubisoft says Nightmare can be enabled regardless of story progression, with combat, stealth, naval and activity difficulty set independently. You can therefore choose which parts of the adventure to make harsher.

Among the detailed changes, ground enemies deal 1.8 times the damage, parry timing is tighter and the usual white attack glint disappears. Detection becomes faster, naval damage increases and underwater activities become more dangerous. The notes also disable the protection against a single attack killing Edward outright. That is not an announced permadeath system.

Update time and download sizes

The announced 14:00 UTC rollout corresponds to 10:00 a.m. Eastern / 7:00 a.m. Pacific on October 27. Until that schedule is independently confirmed as rolled out, these remain planned availability details.

Platform label in Ubisoft’s notesListed patch size
Xbox Series X|S15.5 GB
PlayStation 54.5 GB
PC4.3 GB
Steam2.1 GB

These are patch download figures, not complete installation sizes. Ubisoft lists PC and Steam separately, so the two numbers should not be combined into one universal PC download.

Ubisoft calls 1.0.8 the final major content update and says smaller quality-of-life updates will follow in the coming months. The announcement therefore does not establish an immediate end to support.
