Pokémon HOME 4.1.0: FireRed and LeafGreen Transfers, Celebi and the Bank Deadline
HOME 4.1.0 adds Switch FireRed and LeafGreen support. Check one-way transfers, the Celebi reward, storage changes and Pokémon Bank’s February 2027 deadline.

Pokémon HOME 4.1.0 is available on Switch and mobile, adding compatibility with the Nintendo Switch editions of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. The most important decision comes before you move a Pokémon: those transfers are permanent in one direction.
HOME is useful for bringing a collection together, but its support for a game does not mean every transfer can be reversed. Separate the new Switch connection from the older 3DS Bank service, which has its own deadline.
FireRed and LeafGreen transfers cannot be undone
The official compatibility page says Pokémon sent from Switch FireRed or LeafGreen to HOME cannot return to either game. HOME also cannot send Pokémon into these two titles. Do not use HOME as temporary storage for a team you still want to play with in Kanto.
Special Pokémon normally obtainable once have additional restrictions. The official example limits Mewtwo from a particular save to one transfer into the same HOME account. That is a specific save/account restriction, rather than permission to repeatedly export replacement legendary Pokémon.
The official Switch connection guide also says transfers operate by box: a box containing held items, Pokémon with Hidden Machine moves, or Eggs cannot be sent. Check the box contents before attempting the move.
Before confirming a move, decide which Pokémon you want to keep in the original adventure. Then check the destination game’s compatibility in HOME. An eligible HOME deposit is not a guarantee that a Pokémon can enter every connected game.
What changed in version 4.1.0?
| Change | What it means |
|---|---|
| Switch FireRed/LeafGreen compatibility | A new route into HOME, subject to the one-way restrictions above |
| Premium storage | Capacity rises from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokémon; the Premium price is unchanged |
| Pokémon GO Safari Ball support | The ball becomes a Strange Ball in HOME |
| Switch Research Tasks | Additional supported-game tasks |
| Mobile features | New Challenges, stickers and another game Pokédex |
These are features listed in the 4.1.0 update notice. The client Help menu supplies the detailed requirements. Storage expansion is a Premium benefit, rather than a promise of 9,000 slots for every account.
Celebi: check the Pokédex requirement before moving a collection
Pokémon’s official Switch FireRed/LeafGreen page advertises a Celebi reward for completing the relevant software Pokédex through the HOME connection. Treat this as a completion reward, not a gift for merely installing 4.1.0.
Check the current mobile HOME Help and game-Pokédex requirements before trying to claim it. This guide does not promise that completing only one particular edition automatically meets every condition. The official page explicitly says the linked HOME Pokédex reflects the game’s registered entries: its Pikachu example does not require sending Pikachu into HOME. Do not irreversibly move your entire team just to test reward eligibility.
Pokémon Bank closes February 26, 2027
The updated official Bank notice sets closure at February 26, 2027, 12:00 JST. That is 03:00 UTC / 04:00 CET in Sweden. Bank-to-HOME transfers end with the service.
Bank is no longer available for new downloads. Using the Bank-to-HOME transfer route requires HOME Premium, and Pokémon cannot travel back from HOME to Bank. The Switch FireRed/LeafGreen update does not extend the 3DS deadline or restore access to an uninstalled Bank client.
If you still have a working Bank installation and a collection there, check account access and the transfer requirements well ahead of closure. Leave time to resolve access problems rather than scheduling an irreversible collection move for the final morning.
