Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remakes Hit Switch 2 on October 16 — What Each Edition Includes

Capcom is bringing three of its modern Resident Evil remakes to Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition launch digitally on October 16, 2026, with physical copies following on January 29, 2027 — but the three editions aren’t identical, and RE4 Gold is the one that actually includes Ada Wong’s Separate Ways campaign.

What Each Edition Actually Includes

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with an extra DLC pack: two Leon costumes, three Claire costumes, the deluxe Samurai Edge weapon, and a soundtrack-swap option pulling from the original 1998 game.

Resident Evil 3 is releasing as the base game, with no Deluxe branding and no confirmed bonus DLC pack attached to the Switch 2 version. It also doesn’t include Resident Evil Resistance, the multiplayer mode bundled with RE3’s original 2020 release.

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is the most loaded of the three: the base remake, the full Separate Ways campaign following Ada Wong’s parallel story through the game’s events, and an Extra DLC Pack with additional character outfits, weapons and items.

These Are Native Ports, Not Cloud Versions

This is the detail that separates this release from Switch 1’s Resident Evil library. RE2 and RE3 previously reached the original Switch only as cloud-streamed versions, requiring a constant internet connection just to play. Multiple outlets covering the Switch 2 announcement, including Nintendo Life, describe these as native ports running locally on the hardware — the first time Switch owners get local, offline-capable versions of RE2 and RE3, and the first time the 2023 RE4 remake has appeared on a Nintendo platform in any form.

Pricing and Pre-Orders

Pre-orders opened September 9, alongside an early-adopter discount running through November 7, 2026. UK eShop pricing: Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition £34.99 (£26.24 discounted), Resident Evil 3 £24.99 (£16.49 discounted), Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition £44.99 (£35.99 discounted). US eShop listings put Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition at $25 during the discount window. Capcom hasn’t published a full regional price sheet, so treat other currencies as unconfirmed until they appear on your local eShop.

What’s Not Confirmed Yet

Nintendo and Capcom have not yet published full technical specifications for the Switch 2 versions — no confirmed resolution, frame rate, or docked-versus-handheld performance targets for any of the three games. Don’t treat footage from the Direct as a performance guarantee either way. The exact format of the physical releases (game card versus game-key card) also hasn’t been detailed.
