Slow Horses Season 7 Adds Five, Including Varada Sethu and Tuppence Middleton
Five actors join Slow Horses Season 7, while James Callis returns as Claude Whelan. The confirmed casting, Bad Actors adaptation and premiere-date limits explained.

Slow Horses Season 7 has added Varada Sethu, Ethan Moorhouse, Tuppence Middleton, Merab Ninidze and Joshua McGuire, according to Deadline’s October 19 casting report. James Callis also returns as Claude Whelan alongside Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb.
That is five newcomers in total, with Callis a returning performer. Vital Thrills independently relays the same announced names. Neither report identifies characters for the five additions.
Who is joining the cast?
Deadline identifies the five additions through their earlier screen work:
| New performer | Earlier credit named in the report |
|---|---|
| Varada Sethu | Andor |
| Ethan Moorhouse | Ludwig |
| Tuppence Middleton | Mank |
| Merab Ninidze | The Courier |
| Joshua McGuire | The Gold |
Their Season 7 roles remain unannounced. Readers of Mick Herron’s novels therefore still have to wait to learn which characters the newcomers will play and how they fit into the investigation.
What does James Callis’s return establish?
Callis is specifically named as Claude Whelan. That makes his billing different from the five actors whose roles remain unidentified. It does not reveal how many episodes he appears in, what Whelan does or how Season 6 ends.
Oldman remains the series’ lead as Jackson Lamb, the abrasive head of Slough House, where British intelligence agents are sent after career-ending mistakes. The setting explains why new personnel can matter to the ensemble without making every new actor a confirmed member of Lamb’s team.
What Apple has already announced about Season 7
Apple’s original July 8, 2025 announcement ordered six episodes adapting Bad Actors. Its official premise sends Lamb and the Slow Horses after a mole inside the British government before that person can bring down the state.
The government-mole investigation gives the season its broad stakes, while the casting announcement leaves the new characters’ loyalties undisclosed.
Apple also named Ben Vanstone as the television adapter and executive producer, Robert McKillop as director and See-Saw Films as producer. These are previously announced creative credits; the October news is the cast expansion.
Is there a premiere date?
Apple has not announced a Season 7 premiere date in these releases. The casting news supplies no release window, filming update or Season 7 trailer, so a 2027 expectation remains separate from an official date.
This is also separate from a renewal: Season 7 was ordered in 2025, and Apple announced Season 8 on September 15, 2026.
