You can race head-to-head and unlock Bayonetta in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with the free Year Two update. The Godzilla Pack, released November 3, is a separate purchase. It adds a course called Godzilla Escape and three machines for your racers to drive. A ten-day online festival follows on November 6.

What comes with the Godzilla Pack?

The three machines are the Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe and Mothra Surf. That’s Sonic at the wheel of the Godzilla-shaped machine in SEGA’s screenshot above. Godzilla himself appears on the course as the threat racers are trying to escape. The pack also adds music for the in-game jukebox and sound effects. Nintendo’s US pack listing lists the contents for Switch.

Godzilla is the first pack included in Season Pass Two. If you already own that pass, you have the pack. If you already own the base game, SEGA advises against buying the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition to get the add-ons because that edition includes another copy of the game.

How to unlock Bayonetta in the free update

Open Rival Duel and race against the CPU to unlock Bayonetta. You can play those duels offline. For a human opponent, Free Match pairs you with another player online, while Friend Match lets you set the rules for a race with someone you know.

Duels change the value of holding an item. Your opponent can see what you’re carrying, and using an item helps charge your Duel Boost. The gauge also fills over time, so saving an item for defense trades some boost progress for protection. SEGA’s Year Two announcement details the four duel formats, including limited-time ranked events.

When does the Godzilla Festival run?

The festival opens November 6 at 00:00 UTC and ends November 15 at 23:59 UTC. In Japan, the closing time falls the following morning, November 16 at 08:59 JST. Players compete on three teams, with finishing positions contributing to the team score. Those dates apply to the online event. The Godzilla Pack remains a separate part of the game after the event ends. SEGA Japan’s festival announcement
