Dynamic Duo and the Next Gremlins Film Move to Fall 2028

Warner Bros. has shifted two franchise films to fall 2028. DC Studios’ animated Dynamic Duo is now dated September 22, 2028, moved from June 30, 2028, according to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. The next Gremlins film has moved from November 19, 2027 to October 6, 2028; Warner Bros. also posted the new theatrical date itself. Neither move establishes a change to either film’s story or cast.

What is Dynamic Duo?

Dynamic Duo centers on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, two DC characters who have each been Robin in the comics. The theatrical feature comes from DC Studios, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Swaybox, with Arthur Mintz directing. James Gunn’s original announcement described its visual approach as a blend of animation, puppetry and CGI. The move takes the film out of its late-June slot and into September. Warner Bros. has not issued a readily accessible standalone date announcement for Dynamic Duo, so the precise change here is attributed to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. What do we know about the Gremlins sequel?

Warner Bros.’ September 23 date post says October 6, 2028 — only in theaters. The new date is nearly eleven months after the previously scheduled November 19, 2027 opening.

Chris Columbus, who wrote the 1984 Gremlins, is set to direct and produce the new film. Steven Spielberg is an executive producer. Variety reports that the official title, plot details and cast have not been disclosed. The shorthand “Gremlins 3” appears in trade headlines, but the current schedule reporting calls the project an untitled Gremlins film; we are using that more precise description until Warner Bros. names it.

Why did the dates change?

There is no publicly established production problem behind either shift. Deadline describes the moves as unrelated to the pending Paramount–Warner Bros. transaction and reports a distribution view that September could suit Dynamic Duo.
