Baldur's Gate 3 Comics Launch February 24, 2027 With Astarion; Karlach Follows
Dark Horse's Baldur's Gate 3 comic starts with Astarion in February 2027. Here are the creative teams, Karlach's next arc and the January preview.

Dark Horse and Wizards of the Coast are launching an ongoing Baldur’s Gate 3 comic on February 24, 2027. Astarion leads its opening mystery; Karlach takes over for the following story arc. The publisher announced the series at New York Comic Con on October 9.
For readers choosing where to begin, the key number is #1. This is a newly launching comic series built around the game’s companions, with a preview arriving before the first full issue.
Astarion’s first six issues
In Dark Horse’s official announcement, issues #1–6 follow Astarion after he escapes Cazador Szarr. Ritual killings in Waterdeep put him on the trail of a murderer who could target him next.
Alyssa Wong writes, with pencils by Vincenzo Carratù, inks by Elisabetta D’Amico, colors by Valentina Taddeo and letters by Buddy Beaudoin. The first issue’s Cover A is by Gerald Parel; the publisher’s linked gallery shows the announced covers.
That premise establishes this comic’s starting situation. It does not settle which player decisions or ending constitute a definitive continuation of the video game. Readers looking for that answer should distinguish the announced setup from a broader claim about canon.
Karlach follows Astarion
Becky Cloonan and Francesco Scimonelli are the writer and artist for issues #7–18, taking Karlach into the Nine Hells. Wyll, Shadowheart, Gale and Lae’zel are also named for future arcs, without their full schedules or teams.
The issue ranges make the reading structure clearer: Astarion opens the ongoing series, then Karlach gets a longer stretch. “Ongoing” describes the publication; six issues describes its first arc, rather than the whole run.
Release date, price and preview
| What to look for | Announced availability |
|---|---|
| Preview in Dungeons & Dragons #2 | January 6, 2027 |
| Baldur’s Gate III #1 | February 24, 2027, in comic shops; $4.99 USD |
The preview is an early sampling opportunity, not the series’ launch issue. These are the publisher’s US-market dates and price; ask your retailer about imports, local pricing and digital availability.
This announcement concerns a comic, not a new game expansion or a screen release. Dark Horse also has a separate Dark Sun graphic-novel trilogy, beginning with a hardcover instead of a numbered ongoing issue. Sharing a publisher and the D&D umbrella does not establish a crossover reading order.
