LEGO Ideas’ Star Wars × Marvel Hope Assembles challenge is open, with entries due by November 12, 2026 at 10:00 UTC. Announced at New York Comic Con on October 10, it invites builders to combine Marvel Comics and Star Wars: A New Hope through characters, vehicles or scenes.

The opportunity is to submit a design for possible product selection. A finished Hope Assembles LEGO set is not on sale through this announcement, and the January 2027 date attached to the crossover refers to a separate comic. The individual challenge rules now provide the entry deadline, voting window and selection process.

Where do you enter?

Start at the official LEGO Ideas Hope Assembles campaign, which links to the three challenge streams. Its entry guide gives a practical route:

  1. Sign in with a LEGO Account and create a LEGO Ideas profile. The challenge rules require entrants to be at least 16. Participation is subject to local law and sanctions restrictions; check the legal terms for your circumstances.
  2. Choose a category and build a model using 400–3,000 pieces. Physical bricks and digital CAD builds are allowed; the campaign guide suggests BrickLink Studio as a digital option. Modified LEGO parts are not permitted.
  3. Prepare a description and 4–10 images, each at least 1080 × 720 pixels. The rules prohibit AI-generated artwork and copywriting, so make the entry’s images and written description yourself.
  4. Submit through the relevant challenge before the cutoff and wait for approval. Watch for any changes requested during review; the separate changes/resubmission deadline is November 14 at 10:00 UTC, not an extension of the initial entry deadline.

Read the full rules before committing to a model. The Character Fusion rules allow new creations or expired Product Ideas, but exclude Product Ideas that are or were active during this challenge’s intake period. Do not assume an existing submission can automatically be entered again.

What can you build?

Lucasfilm’s announcement names three categories:

CategoryBuilding theme
Character FusionA character mash-up drawing on the two source worlds
Vehicle FusionA vehicle mash-up
Scene FusionA scene combining the two worlds

The important boundary is Marvel Comics and Star Wars: A New Hope, with no additional intellectual properties allowed. This is not blanket permission to submit anything from every Marvel film, Star Wars series or other licensed property. The campaign’s detailed rules remain the place to check which specific characters, vehicles and ideas qualify.

What are the submission and voting dates?

All three individual challenge pages give the same operational calendar. Times below are UTC:

StageOfficial challenge schedule
Submissions openAnnounced open on October 10, 2026
Initial submission cutoffNovember 12, 2026 at 10:00
Changes/resubmissions cutoffNovember 14, 2026 at 10:00
Fan voteDecember 15, 2026 at 10:00 through January 4, 2027 at 10:00
ResultsBy April 5, 2027

There is a discrepancy in the publicity copy: LEGO’s Danish-locale press release says December 8. The specific rules for all three challenges say December 15, matching LEGO’s US release and Lucasfilm. Use the individual challenge schedule when planning your entry and vote.

Does a winning design become a LEGO set?

The review board will choose up to five entries per category for the fan vote. Votes inform the process, but the board retains the final selection decision: leading a public vote does not by itself guarantee that a design becomes a set.

LEGO’s announcement describes selected submissions becoming an official LEGO product. It does not mean every entrant receives a production deal or that three retail sets have already been confirmed. No set number, retail price or product release date is established here. Read the challenge’s selection and prize terms before treating a possible product as guaranteed.

How is it connected to the Hope Assembles comic?

The challenge celebrates Star Wars x Marvel: Hope Assembles, the crossover comic launching in January 2027, alongside the original Star Wars film’s 50th anniversary that year. Kevin Smith, a writer on the comic, was part of the NYCC panel announcing the LEGO challenge.

The comic and the building challenge are separate things: reading the comic is not the same as submitting a LEGO design, and its publication month does not establish when a fan-designed LEGO product might reach shops.

For a prospective entrant, the practical next step is to choose a category and check the official campaign’s current rules, especially the deadline, eligibility and permitted source material. Follow our Comics coverage for further crossover announcements.
