Ahsoka Season 2 Teaser Sets January 20 Premiere and Brings Back Anakin

Ahsoka Season 2 finally has an exact release date. Lucasfilm revealed at D23 — the same Disney Entertainment Showcase where Star Wars: Starfighter debuted its first footage — that the series will return to Disney+ on January 20, 2027, alongside a new teaser trailer that is already available publicly.

The footage brings Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker back into Ahsoka Tano’s story. Lucasfilm says the teaser shows Anakin training young Ahsoka, played by Ariana Greenblatt, while also communicating with Rosario Dawson’s adult Ahsoka.

What it does not explain is how Anakin appears in the present-day story. Lucasfilm has not identified him as a Force ghost, vision or anything else, so that remains open.

Thrawn Is Still the Threat

Grand Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen, is again positioned as the season’s major danger as he rallies the Imperial remnant.

Eman Esfandi also returns as Ezra Bridger. Lucasfilm says Ezra is back home with his Rebels family and is fighting for the New Republic against Thrawn’s forces.

Disney’s official Season 2 description adds that Ahsoka and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren are trying to find their way home while Hera, Ezra, Zeb and Chopper face Thrawn and his allies.

The wider returning cast also includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla. Rory McCann has joined Season 2 as Baylan Skoll, continuing the role originated by the late Ray Stevenson.

Christensen’s return itself is not new: he confirmed at Star Wars Celebration Japan in April 2025 that Anakin would be back for Season 2. The fresh D23 news is the public teaser and exact January premiere date.
