Crunchyroll, HAYATE and LINE Digital Frontier are working on potential anime adaptations of around 15 WEBTOON titles. The partnership, announced at New York Comic Con on October 8, spotlights three productions: The Remarried Empress, Teenage Mercenary and The Boxer. The first two have 2027 release windows; The Boxer remains undated.

The number describes a development plan, rather than 15 individually dated series. The WEBTOON announcement says the companies will collaborate from the development stage, with HAYATE leading development and production and Crunchyroll streaming the resulting anime exclusively in selected territories.

Which anime have actually been named?

TitleAnnounced release windowWhat changed at NYCC
The Remarried Empress2027New anime announcement, character art, promo and main production credits
Teenage Mercenary2027New teaser visual and promo for an existing adaptation project
The BoxerTo be announcedNew anime announcement and special promo

These windows come from Crunchyroll’s NYCC announcement. No exact premiere day is given for any of the three.

Teenage Mercenary is particularly easy to mislabel: its adaptation was already announced in June 2025. NYCC brings a clearer release window and new promotional material, rather than its first anime announcement.

The Remarried Empress: Navier chooses her next chapter

The romance fantasy follows Empress Navier after her husband, Sovieshu, demands a divorce. She agrees on the condition that she can remarry Heinrey, a prince of the Western Empire. The premise centers on her attempt to regain control of her future.

LINE Digital Frontier’s production announcement identifies TROYCA as the animation studio, Tetsuya Yanagisawa as director and Yoko Hikasa as Navier’s voice actor. HAYATE’s production role should not be mistaken for a claim that one animation studio makes every series in the partnership.

The hero above is this show’s official Navier character art. It represents one named adaptation, rather than a visual for the entire proposed slate.

Teenage Mercenary: returning home after a childhood of combat

Ijin Yu survives a plane crash as a child and spends ten years living as a mercenary abroad. Returning to his family puts him into high school alongside his younger sister, where threats to her and his friends draw on skills learned in a very different life.

Crunchyroll has released an official special promo. The announced 2027 window does not establish a specific season, month or simultaneous dub schedule.

The Boxer: talent with a cost

Trainer K sees extraordinary potential in Yu, a boy who seems indifferent while taking punches in an alley. His entry into boxing brings him up against fighters whose ambitions depend on discipline, effort and their own reasons for competing.

The official Crunchyroll promo introduces the adaptation, but the platform’s release listing still says its date will be announced. It should not be grouped into the other two shows’ 2027 window.

Where will they stream?

The overall agreement promises Crunchyroll exclusivity in select territories. That is not a blanket worldwide-rights statement for every potential project.

For The Remarried Empress specifically, Crunchyroll lists North, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS. Europe is included, but the announcement supplies no Swedish local launch time. Those listed regions should not automatically be copied onto the other titles.

The remaining prospective adaptations have not been named in the partnership announcement. Episode counts, complete regional schedules and dub dates also need separate announcements. Our Anime coverage follows those updates; the three titles above are the useful starting point for understanding this deal today.
