Jamie Foxx’s Deadlocked is scheduled to begin filming in Victoria next week, according to Variety Australia’s October 2 report. The Amazon MGM Studios action thriller will use Melbourne as New York City, with Nikhil Bhat directing a story about a former Marine caught in a courthouse hostage crisis. Prime Video is the reported release destination; a premiere date has not been announced.

Where Will Deadlocked Film?

Docklands Studios Melbourne has confirmed that Foxx, Sasha Calle and Luke Hemsworth are heading to the studio for the production. Its October 2 announcement describes a shoot expected to support more than 855 local cast and crew jobs.

Variety identifies Melbourne’s CBD, Docklands and Port Melbourne as filming locations. Those streets will stand in for New York, with action scenes planned for the following weekend. The announcement establishes an upcoming shoot; it does not yet confirm that cameras are rolling.

What Is Deadlocked About?

Foxx plays a grieving former Marine who is serving on a jury. The case turns into a hostage emergency when the defendant’s daughter takes over the courthouse to free her father, forcing the juror to draw on his earlier experience.

That premise explains the lead character’s connection to the crisis. The reports do not identify which actors play the defendant or his daughter, or reveal the outcome of the siege.
