Firefly Wedding Anime Starts October 9 — Crunchyroll Time, Cast and Where to Start the Manga
Firefly Wedding premieres October 9 on Crunchyroll at 9 a.m. PT / 6 p.m. CEST. Check streaming regions, cast, the official trailer and VIZ's manga schedule.

Firefly Wedding premieres on Crunchyroll on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 9 a.m. Pacific Time — noon Eastern and 6 p.m. CEST in Stockholm. That is the announced subtitled premiere. Europe is among the licensed regions; access through a Swedish account has not been independently confirmed.
The new anime adapts Oreco Tachibana’s Firefly Wedding, also known as Hotaru no Yomeiri. Its central bargain is a marriage proposal made to survive an encounter with an assassin. Here are the launch times, cast and legal manga starting point, without story-ending spoilers.
When does Firefly Wedding episode 1 arrive?
Crunchyroll’s October 6 announcement gives the first episode’s subtitle release time. These conversions apply to October 9, while daylight saving time remains in effect in the regions below.
| Region | Premiere time on Friday, October 9 |
|---|---|
| US Pacific | 9 a.m. PDT |
| US Eastern | Noon EDT |
| UTC | 16:00 |
| United Kingdom | 5 p.m. BST |
| Sweden and Central Europe | 6 p.m. CEST |
Japan’s television premiere is earlier: 11:30 p.m. JST on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block, equivalent to 4:30 p.m. CEST. The official Japanese schedule separately lists domestic streaming from Friday 24:00 JST, meaning midnight at the start of Saturday, October 10 — 5 p.m. CEST on October 9. Neither Japanese slot replaces Crunchyroll’s international time.
Where can you watch legally?
Crunchyroll announces availability in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS and the Indian Subcontinent.
Check the local Crunchyroll series listing for account access, subscription requirements and available languages. The European license announcement does not establish which options a particular Swedish account will display.
Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video appear in the anime’s Japanese domestic distribution table. Those entries do not confirm that the show is coming to those services in Sweden or other international markets. Our release calendar records the announced Crunchyroll launch separately from Japan’s broadcast.
What is Firefly Wedding about?
In Meiji-era Japan, Satoko Kirigaya is a seriously ill noblewoman who wants to marry into a respected family. After she is abducted, an encounter with assassin Shinpei Goto puts her life in immediate danger. She offers marriage as a way to survive; his response turns that desperate bargain into an obsessive attachment.
The official premise frames this as romantic suspense involving coercion, violence and dangerous devotion. That setup is useful to know before choosing it as a romance watch. No anime age rating is assigned here, and this guide contains no viewing verdict or review score.
Cast, studio and theme songs
Fuji TV’s cast announcement confirms these Japanese voice roles:
| Character | Voice actor |
|---|---|
| Satoko Kirigaya | Lynn |
| Shinpei Goto | Koki Uchiyama |
| Kotaro Ogawa | Kent Ito |
| Mitsueda | Kenjiro Tsuda |
The official production credits list david production as the animation studio, Takahiro Kamei as director, Yuko Kakihara for series composition and scripts, Yukiko Aikei for character design, and NOGRID for music. The opening is “Period” by iri; the ending is “Yumegokochi” by TOOBOE.
Do you need the manga first?
This is the manga’s first TV anime adaptation, rather than a sequel season. The original is available as a separate reading route: begin with VIZ’s English Volume 1, which introduces Satoko and Shinpei from the beginning.
Reading ahead is optional. Starting at Volume 1 is also the safest choice if you later want the original story: an episode-to-chapter handoff cannot be established before the adaptation’s coverage is known.
Japanese volumes and the English release schedule
As of October 8, Shogakukan’s series catalog lists 12 published Japanese volumes. Its product page schedules the final Volume 13 for October 19, 2026. Twelve is therefore the number already released, not the completed collection’s final total.
The English editions follow VIZ’s own schedule:
| English edition | VIZ release date | Status on October 8 |
|---|---|---|
| Volume 8 | October 13, 2026 | Upcoming |
| Volume 9 | January 5, 2027 | Upcoming |
Do not treat the Japanese catalog as an English availability list. Later-volume descriptions can also reveal major developments; readers seeking a spoiler-free introduction should stay with Volume 1’s listing.
Watch the official main trailer
Fuji TV announced this main PV on September 18. The upload comes from its official anime channel and previews iri’s opening song. It is promotional footage, not a new October 8 trailer or proof of a particular episode’s scene order.
What is still unconfirmed?
Crunchyroll’s season lineup labels the English dub’s timing TBA. The precise premiere notice concerns subtitles; it does not establish a same-day dub or the ongoing weekly international hour.
The sources checked do not establish the anime’s episode count or manga adaptation endpoint. Swedish account access also remains unverified. Check local platform information close to release, and visit our Anime hub for related coverage.
