Hirayasumi Anime: January 2027 Premiere, Cast and First Look

The Hirayasumi anime will debut on NHK General TV in Japan in January 2027, according to VIZ Media’s latest first look. VIZ has named the three lead voice actors and shared a new teaser. An exact Japanese broadcast date and international streaming platform have not been announced.

When Does Hirayasumi Premiere?

The confirmed window is January 2027 in Japan, on NHK General TV. VIZ says international streaming details are still to come. A North American manga publisher sharing the first look does not by itself establish a streaming home, same-day release or English dub.

There is an earlier chance for a small audience to see it: VIZ says a preview version of episode one will screen at Japan Society in New York on October 7, 2026. The episode was still receiving finishing touches when VIZ announced the event. That screening is an advance preview, not the television premiere or a general streaming launch.

The new teaser gives viewers a first chance to hear the leads. VIZ’s accompanying material identifies Hiroto as a carefree 29-year-old and Natsumi as his 18-year-old cousin, who moves from Yamagata to Tokyo to study art. Granny is Hiroto’s older neighbor and friend.

What Is Hirayasumi About?

The series adapts Keigo Shinzo’s ongoing manga, published in English by VIZ. Hiroto lives without a conventional career plan, while the people around him wrestle with work, family, uncertainty and grief. The story follows the connections that form around him and the house he inherits after befriending Granny. VIZ notes that the manga has won a Shogakukan Manga Award.

The official teaser shows the everyday setting and central relationships, including Natsumi’s arrival in Tokyo. It does not confirm how many episodes the series will run or where in the manga this adaptation will stop.

Production +h. is the animation studio. VIZ credits Kei Suezawa with direction, series composition and scripts; Naoyuki Asano with character design; Mika Nishimura with art direction; and Kaori Sawada with the music. VIZ and ShoPro are involved in the production.
