Kaiju No. 8’s previously announced final anime chapter will be a theatrical movie, with a 2027 release window in Japan. The production’s official account confirmed the format and year on October 24, 2026, alongside a new teaser illustration by Shinji Kimura.

The original announcement identifies the film as the anime series’ conclusion. It supplies no month or day, and does not establish an overseas release schedule.

What changed from the earlier final-chapter announcement?

A concluding installment had already been announced at Jump Festa 2026 in December 2025. MANTANWEB’s October 24 report distinguishes that earlier production confirmation from today’s news that the ending will take the form of a movie.

The update therefore answers an important format question for viewers waiting after the second television season. The next announced concluding installment is a film; there is no confirmed Season 3 television schedule in this announcement. That does not amount to a separate formal cancellation of a third season.

Eiga.com reports that the information was unveiled at the Defense Force Boot Camp in Tachikawa cast event. The television anime began in 2024, with its second season airing in 2025. The newly confirmed movie continues that anime adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s manga.

What does Shinji Kimura’s teaser art show?

The poster places an enormous, many-eyed dark kaiju between damaged buildings, above a ruined street and traffic lights. The Japanese movie title and 2027 marker sit beneath the creature. Its identity is not established by the visual announcement, so the illustration should not be treated as confirmation of a particular final battle or plot outcome.

Denfaminicogamer’s report credits the new illustration to Shinji Kimura, the television anime’s art director. It also carries a comment from Masaya Fukunishi, the voice of Kafka Hibino and Kaiju No. 8, expressing his commitment to the conclusion.

Watch the official visual reveal

TOHO animation published this 21-second teaser-art reveal on its original channel. It presents the new promotional visual; it is not a full story trailer or a basis for describing finished action sequences.

When will the film release internationally?

The verified announcement gives 2027 for the Japanese theatrical release. An exact Japanese opening day, overseas cinema dates, ticket rollout, runtime, English-dub schedule and streaming destination remain unannounced in the checked material.

The year should therefore not be presented as a guaranteed simultaneous worldwide release. Our release calendar records the Japanese year-only window, with international dates still to follow.
