No: Modern Warfare 4 is not included with Game Pass at its October 23, 2026 launch. Activision says players must purchase the game separately, including players who already subscribe to Game Pass. Its stated window for later inclusion is Holiday 2027, without an exact date.

That policy comes from the COD Intel Team’s October 15 announcement. It is a distinction between buying the game and receiving access through a subscription catalog, rather than a restriction preventing a subscriber from buying and playing it.

Does Game Pass Ultimate change the launch answer?

The announcement does not grant Ultimate subscribers day-one access to MW4. The separate-purchase requirement is the relevant rule for the new game.

Activision does specifically discuss Ultimate when addressing older titles: its October 15 statement says subscribers will continue to have access to Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III. Those named catalog titles should not be confused with the new release. The statement is not a permanent guarantee that any catalog remains unchanged.

What does Holiday 2027 actually mean?

It is a release window, not a dated appointment. Activision’s checked announcement does not identify a day, launch hour or the subscription tier that will include Modern Warfare 4 when it arrives.

It therefore does not justify a countdown to a particular December day, a promise of future inclusion in every Game Pass plan or a claim about how long the game will remain in the service. Those details need a later official announcement. The game’s October 2026 retail launch and its proposed subscription arrival are separate milestones.

How can you play at launch?

Activision’s current game listing gives October 23 and names Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2.

For Xbox purchases, the October 15 notice points to the Xbox Store on console, Xbox app on PC and Microsoft Store. Those purchase routes do not turn the game into a subscription entitlement, and a listing on one storefront does not establish a license on every other platform.

Requirements for online console services are also a separate question from whether the game is included in a catalog. Check the product listing for your platform and country; this announcement does not establish a single worldwide unlock time or universal local purchase terms.

Do campaign and DMZ early access count as Game Pass access?

No. The publisher’s October 16 campaign update ties early access to digital preorders or prepurchases, including Standard Digital and Vault Edition.

Activision warns that early-access play time is subject to outages, time-zone differences and platform or start-date changes. A preorder benefit is not evidence that the subscription has begun carrying the game.
