Modern Warfare 4’s full campaign early access is scheduled to begin Friday, October 16, using Activision’s Pacific Time date reference, for players who preorder or prepurchase a digital edition. You do not need the more expensive Vault Edition: Digital Standard qualifies too.

That is the eligibility rule in Activision Support’s October 13 editions guide. It is separate from the October 20 DMZ early-access date and the game’s October 23 full launch. The checked sources give dates, but do not establish a single universal campaign unlock hour or prove that every platform and region is already playable.

Which editions and platforms qualify?

Activision says all digital editions on any platform receive the campaign preorder benefit. Its September campaign announcement specifically identifies Standard Digital and Vault Edition purchases on:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Xbox on PC
  • Battle.net
  • Steam
  • Nintendo Switch 2

The qualifying purchase must be the digital game on the platform you intend to use. A physical preorder is not covered by the digital-only early-access offer. Paying for Vault’s additional content is not necessary to satisfy the stated campaign requirement.

Campaign, DMZ and full launch are different milestones

MilestoneActivision’s announced dateWhat the announcement covers
Campaign Early AccessOctober 16, 2026 — PT referenceFull campaign for eligible digital preorders/prepurchases
DMZ Early AccessOctober 20, 2026 — PT referenceDMZ for eligible digital preorders/prepurchases
Full game launchOctober 23, 2026Standard release of Modern Warfare 4

The October 20 benefit concerns DMZ. It is not an announcement that the standard multiplayer launch has moved forward. Likewise, October 16 is campaign access for qualifying purchases, rather than the full game’s general release.

How to check your access

Start with your purchase record: confirm it identifies Modern Warfare 4 Digital Standard or Vault Edition, and that you are using the same platform account that holds the purchase. Then check that platform’s game library and official product listing for its available installation and access options.

If the game is not yet accessible, compare the store’s current local availability with Activision’s October 16 PT reference. Do not assume that midnight in your country is the promised unlock. The publisher warns that actual play time can be affected by outages and time-zone differences, and that platform availability and start dates can change.

The sources checked for this guide do not give a verified universal unlock clock or download size. A date announcement alone cannot diagnose an individual account or installation problem; the platform’s support service and Activision’s current support notices are the appropriate next checks if a qualifying purchase is not recognized.
