The Pogues are heading out for one last ride. Outer Banks Season 5 premieres on Netflix August 20, 2026, bringing the treasure-hunting drama to an end after five seasons.

Netflix Tudum confirms this is the show’s fifth and final season, while the Netflix Media Center lists the final run as 10 one-hour episodes. The series creators — Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke — return as writers and executive producers.

The ending has been on their minds for years. Netflix says the creators originally imagined Outer Banks as a five-season journey, and Josh Pate has said they knew the final scene from the beginning.

Spoiler warning: The following section discusses the Outer Banks Season 4 finale.

The Pogues are chasing revenge in the final season

Season 5 picks up after JJ’s death in Morocco, with the group grieving their friend and the Blue Crown still out of reach. Chandler Groff remains at large, Dalia and the Corsairs are closing in, and the Kooks are trying to make sure the Pogues have nothing left to return to.

That leaves John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo relying on each other again — with Rafe pulled into an uneasy alliance — as they try to reclaim their future and avenge JJ.

The confirmed returning cast includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North and Fiona Palomo. Netflix Media Center also lists J. Anthony Crane as Chandler Groff and Cullen Moss as Shoupe.

The final-season launch closes a run that began in 2020. According to Netflix, the first four seasons generated nearly 200 million views and appeared on the streamer’s English-language Top 10 list 25 times.

Netflix has already released the main Season 5 trailer and new images from the final run. For now, the important date is simple: Outer Banks returns August 20, with the Pogues getting one last chance to finish what they started.
