Spider-Man: Brand New Day Passes $2 Billion Worldwide

During its third weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed $2 billion worldwide, becoming the eighth film reported to reach the milestone and the second-fastest to do so.

Sunday box-office estimates at the time put Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man film at approximately $2.022 billion globally, including $785.8 million in the U.S. and Canada and $1.236 billion internationally.

The Associated Press reported that Brand New Day reached $2 billion in about 18 days. At that point, only Avengers: Endgame had done it faster, reaching the mark in 11 days in 2019.

The Third Weekend That Set the Milestone

The Sony Pictures release stayed at the top of the North American box office for a third consecutive weekend, adding an estimated $70 million.

That pushed its domestic total to $785.8 million, then the fourth-highest domestic gross ever without adjusting for inflation. Deadline reported that the $70 million haul was also the second-biggest third weekend in domestic box-office history, behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

International markets added another $118.7 million during the weekend, helping push the film beyond the $2 billion barrier.

A New Spider-Man Record

The milestone took Brand New Day past Spider-Man: No Way Home, which finished above $1.9 billion, making Brand New Day the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie to date and Sony’s biggest worldwide release.

Its record run started immediately. Sony’s final opening-weekend figures put the film at approximately $360.1 million domestically, narrowly beating Avengers: Endgame’s previous unadjusted opening record.

Those Sunday totals were estimates, not a final global cume. In a later eighth-weekend report, the Associated Press put the domestic total at $944.5 million. This page documents the $2 billion milestone rather than presenting a live worldwide tracker.
