Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 premieres on Disney+ on January 13, 2027, according to Marvel Studios’ October 8 announcement. The NYCC reveal pairs that exact date with official artwork putting Peter Parker’s black symbiote suit at the center of the new season.

That settles the release-day question left open by older listings. It also requires a distinction for readers following the tie-in: the Marvel Comics book carrying the “Season 2” label starts in December, before the animated show’s January return.

The new date replaces the fall 2026 window

Variety’s October 2025 NYCC report gave the season a fall 2026 window. Marvel’s season overview still displayed that older window when checked for this article, but the newer, dated studio announcement specifies January 13, 2027. The two should not be presented as competing current schedules.

Marvel has not explained the scheduling change in the announcement. There is no basis here to attribute it to production problems or to another Disney+ release.

What Marvel actually revealed about the symbiote

Creator Jeff Trammell introduced an exclusive season 2 preview at the October 8 panel. Marvel’s own recap names Hudson Thames as Peter Parker and confirms the black symbiote suit. Trammell described a more established Spider-Man facing larger threats after his first season’s learning curve.

The poster makes that visual direction explicit: black material spreads across Peter’s red-and-blue costume, while a large white spider emblem fills the background. Its divided design is promotional artwork, rather than proof of a particular transformation scene, episode ending or final host.

Where Venom and Gwen fit in

GamesRadar+‘s NYCC coverage identifies Eddie Brock/Venom and Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen among the season’s characters. Those details are attributed to the event reporting; Marvel’s shorter official recap does not supply that character roster.

Venom and Gwen are not wholly new additions to the public discussion. Variety’s 2025 panel report already described the symbiote, Gwen Stacy and Charlie Cox’s returning Daredevil. This week’s firm new development is the exact premiere date and accompanying artwork. A complete season 2 voice-cast list is not established by these announcements.

December’s comic is a separate release

The four-issue comic bridge begins December 9, 2026, with writer Christos Gage and artist Eric Gapstur returning. ICv2’s announcement report places it between the show’s first and second seasons, within this animated continuity.

That makes December 9 a comic-shop date and January 13 a Disney+ premiere. Neither announcement says reading all four issues is required to follow the television season.

The reviewed announcement provides no complete episode calendar, local launch hour or market-by-market rollout, including Sweden. The panel preview is described as exclusive; no verified public season 2 trailer is supplied by these sources, so attendee footage is not presented here as an official online trailer. The confirmed date is also listed in our release calendar; follow TV & Streaming for further scheduling updates.
